Why all the locks on the bridge? Was there last night and noticed about 2-300 locks left on the bridge. Did I see something recently about a bridge in Venice (or Bruges?) where weight if locks was causing bridge to collapse?

I must admit I did make a special crossing of the bridge because I liked the look of it. It goes up in estimation as it was designed by GE, but, sadly, it's just another bridge.

Gustave Eiffel designed this red girder pedestrian bridge in Girona. Although it doesn't have the same grandeur as the famous tower, it's easy to see the connection between the two structures.

It's nothing special. More like a railway footbridge than the Eiffel tower. It's interesting to compare it with Calatrava's Zubizuri bridge, in Bilbao.

This is just one of a number of bridges across the river, this looks modern and out of place for the beauty of the houses on the river bank. It is a good place to get photos of that part of the river, all the bridges have their own character. Looking at the bridge its the same as any other... More

The bridge is beautiful, but the river and surrounding buildings are the real show. Night time under the lights, this is a special place. We were lucky to be here during the flower festival which added to the moment.

This is an decorative bridge across the river in Girona. It was designed by the designer for the eiffel tower in Paris. The most unique thing I found about it was its' brilliant red color! In an old, historic walled city, this was very unique.

The Onyar River is particularly attractive with colourful houses that run along the length of the river in central Girona and to complete the spectacle is the Eiffel Bridge which does not look out of place given its surroundings. It was constructed by Gustave Eiffel before the Eiffel Tower was erected in Paris.

Take the time to stroll across, maybe best in the evening as the bridge is lit in a way that enhances its design. Eiffel, working at the same time and spirit of Gaudi and the Catalan Modernists, created a wonderful segue from the ancient city to the 19th century one. Spend some time really looking and you will find it's... More
