we've all seen the famous postcard view of Girona with the painted houses along the river, and it really IS like that. A series of interesting bridges takes you back and forth between the old city and the newer area. Most of the ground floors of these buildings are given over to bars and restaurants so you can sit and... More

Just like the pictures, very pretty. On the bank away from the main city the views of the cathedral's and churches is gorgeous especially at dusk and night.

I stood on the bridge looking down the river at the, typical to Girona, coloured houses, it is truly beautiful !

It's not a huge river, but it's clean with some carp. With the coloured buildings in the background it's great for pictures. It's also near Lance Armstrong's apartment.

One always feels drawn back to the river as I was. Had seen pictures previously of Girona with its wonderful water way and beautiful buildings reflected in the Onyar. I rose early to get the light in the morning and again in the afternoon and was lucky as the sky was not overcast. Always drawn, and always something to spot. This... More

River Onyar between new and old town Girona is great river to see. Its not wide, nearly narrow but anyway the scene is marvellous and very impressive. Nice looking little colourful houses both sides of river, bridges and canals reminded me a bit Venice or St Petersburg, but in miniatyre. You have to only take a few steps from river... More

Beautiful view of colorful buildings perched above the river. Especially colorful in the late afternoon when the sun is shining on the buildings with a blue sky background. It makes the perfect photo

Main Girona river, Onyar, crosses the city and divides the old(and touristic) suburbs and the modern ones. Sometimes they make decorations, but more than the river, the beautiful places are the bridges(especially Pont de Pedra) and the houses in the shore.

Very pretty river overlooked by a myriad of colourful houses. There are plenty of places to cross as they seem to like building bridges, one of which was apparently built by Eiffel himself. We were here at the end of July and there was plenty of water in the river, which contained some pretty big fish (the water runs very... More
