When we first saw the river it was about 50cm wide running along a concrete channel about 30 metres wide and we were disappointed. As it gets closer to the old city it opens up and becomes a little more attractive. Not the greatest or grandest of rivers but look at it, take a photo and move on...

My wife and I went for the day on a Sunday a week ago and passed this river on the way to the old town and church. The whole place is serene, quiet and lovely settings. We found it to be relaxing and soothing. We recommend visitors to go there.

If you are a photographer - this is one place you don't want to miss : The variety of colourful buildings revealed to you bordering the Onyar river - is stunning . You can cross on the Eifel bridge and the sight is , was and will always be - a photographer must .

One of the first photos I ever saw of Girona was that of brightly colored residences along the Onyar, in fact it was one of the prime reasons (along with the cathedral and the Medieval walls) that clinched my decision to visit the city. I came upon it as I walked the narrow and charming streets of the old town.... More

Looks like very little water in the river but walking over a bridge one evening was fascinated to see hundreds of large fish all swimming about and breaking the surface. Under the bridge was a cat trying catch his supper?! So cute.

Liked best the many old stone bridges over the river, and the colorful houses lined up along both banks of the river. Like a painting, especially with their reflections in the river below.

I'm sure that with the right filters and a full subscription to Photoshop this would work but the reality is a bit underwhelming.

The very epitome of average. The photos promise much; in fact my own photo looked as good as the tourist office version. But when you are there it is actually surprisingly unremarkable. The river is barely flowing, quite a bit of litter. The area is interesting to explore but my breath was not taken away. Allow a full 3 minutes... More

nice, quiet river with great views of the colourful, vivid buildings on the side. Somehow it reminded me of Florence, Italy. Definitely worth a stroll
