I had a lovely walk around this lake while I was staying in Girona. It's very easy to catch a bus from Girona to Banyoles, but don't forget to buy your ticket in the bus station otherwise you'll annoy the bus driver! The lake is beautiful. It takes about an hour and a half to walk all the way around... More

This is a lovely lake which is a protected area so great care is taken in its conservation. You can take an electric boat ride round the shores, it is very peaceful and an hour of gliding along is very relaxing! Note the small houses dotted around on the shores, some left to ruin but some are well maintained. These... More

We visited the low a few years ago, after a stroll in gerona and before our trip to the medieval town of Besalu. The lake is very relaxing with some beautifully designed terasses around it. No more proof of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics when they used the lake for the rowing event. But still a great place to rest, swim... More

This lake makes for a nice outing for the family to get outside the city. They have a nice path for walking or biking around the lake. Since it is fairly flat, it is good for the whole family.

If you are in Girona, it is worth driving the 30 minutes to Banyoles to see the old town and visit the large lake. It really is quite idyllic.

This is the lake that was used in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The walk round it is 6km although many people go on bikes. There are cafes/restaurants situated next to it which make for a nice place to soak up the relaxing atmosphere . If you're anywhere near it it's well worth a visit.

We did a round of the lake and it was quite nice and so easy because it's very flat. And if you want to take a bath you have two nice areas to do it with life guard.

Banyoles is easy to reach by bus from Girona--take the bus toward Serinya'. The town doesn't have a lot to see, but the lake is simply beautiful. It is a volcanic lake with nice paths for strolling or running.

This incredible place is something else. You can be close to nature, in peace and solitude even in the height of summer. Morning , noon, or evenings this area is fabulous. Walk, cycle or just sit by this peaceful and pretty lake. Inland heaven !

Lake Banyoles is great for any type of outdoor activity, I strongly recommend walking/hiking around the perimeter of the lake to enjoy its natural beauty and fauna!
