Maria and Rosa, the chefs, showed us a unique as well as lovely side of Barcelona. We also learned a lot of cooking techniques and got invaluable tips concerning what to buy in the market and when. It's so much fun to try out different things especially things that we don't have where we are from. I would say the... More

It was such a fun experience going to La Bocaria, the large open food market on La Rambla and learning how to shop and what to shop for. After shopping for everything we needed for our meal we learned how to make several Catalan dishes while drinking delicious wine, getting to know the rest of our group and finally getting... More

We had the best time. I would recommend this to anyone. The chef that ran the night was very knowledgable and great at getting us to work together.

Seriously, this was our favorite thing that we did while in Barcelona. Assumpta was the name of our teacher, and she could not have been better at teaching us and including everybody. We had 10 people in our class, and we all had a blast. My 5-year-old was the only small child, and he absolutely loves to cook. And there... More

Our 1/2 class started with a tour of The Boqueria, showing us where to buy the food the locals buy. Then we headed over to the private kitchens and were given hands on instruction to make the Spanish version of Creme Brulee - Crema Catalonia, as well as an Escabeche Salad with wild mushrooms, Clams with sauce Verdi, and a... My family and I participated in the Boqueria Market tour and cooking class with Maria. The experience was 6 hours long and quite illuminating. We were taken on an expert tour of the market by Maria, a chef with first hand relationships with the shopkeepers. We were given tastes of a number of foods throughout the market, as Maria purchased... More

I'm not a very good chef, but when I came here I learned a lot. We made crema Catalana, a dish similar to crema brûlée, a seafood paella, which was delicious, tomato bread, and the best part was that we could eat it all when we were done. The walking tour was very good, and we all could taste test... More

My friend and I signed up for the market tour and cooking class held on Christmas eve. Everything was perfect-- I have had many cooking classes from around the world and this was by far the best experience because of our chef/ instructor. She was a delight and taught our class of 11 with professionalism, warmth, and humor. You can... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
