Owner description: Cooking classes, market tours and customised adventures that will open more than your eyes to the gastronomic heart of the city that Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations described as “the most exciting place to eat in the Western world.” A fun, relaxed and memorable experience for groups of friends, families or singles, as well as company team building days.Engage all your senses as you tour Barcelona’s best markets including the world-renowned La Boqueria and haggle with the Catalan stallholders for the freshest seasonal vegetables from the fields of Andalucia, the creamiest Spanish cheeses, seafood direct from the Mediterranean, Spain’s famous Jamón Ibérico, oranges from Sevilla, and almonds from the hills of Catalonia. Then learn how to transform these ingredients into delicious modern and traditional Spanish dishes - personally created by your chef. And finally, enjoy the fruits of your hard work over Cava – don't dare call it Spanish champagne, a selection of Spain’s best wines such as Tempranillo, Garancha, Syrah and Mazuelo, and Catalan Vichy - the world’s #1 mineral water. Come on a Barcelona Culinary Adventures and see why Papa Serra called this place home.

I had a wonderful time learning to cook real regional Spanish dishes with Joel. Like many others, I had been to the market and marvelled at the myriad of delightful food, wishing that I could learn how to prepare the dishes in Spain that I had grown to love. Joel tailored his menu to my request to learn how make... More

Having been to Barcelona many times over the year, I wanted to find something unique and memorable to do as a special birthday celebration. I had heard good things about this and so contacted Joel via his website. I had prompt replies and we booked up. The day started outside La Boqueria at 9am with a glass of cava. The... More

Joel is a charming host of these adventures which are a magic blend of a market tour, cooking course, dinner and making friends all in one. I thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon with Joel and the rest of the crew I met at the "adventure"...particularly learning a bit about spanish cuisine you wont find in cookbooks. It is also the best... Any day that starts with a glass of cava is going to be a good day. Joel looked after us very well, showing us around the stalls of the market with a locals perspective. Cooking the tapas was great fun and of course eating it with more cava was just as good. I recommend this day to any food lover... More

Joel greeted us with a glass of cava and then provided an informative tour of the local food market (St Joseph La Boqueria). As we were shown the markets Joel made a number of purchases for the evening cooking class. The group then spent a pleasant evening making a number of spanish dishes (two each), before sharing the dishes as... More

I had an amazing time with Joel in his cooking class. He introduced us to some very simle and earthy techniques along with interesting background information on the ingredients. The Tour started with a galss of Cava and drinks flowed through the afternoon as we were paired to prepare 2 dishes each. It ended with us enjoying what the group... More

Joel was very charming and knowledgeable about Barcelona and the regional foods. We were a mother-daughter group and he made sure that there was something for the moms (cava) and the girls (sodas). We thoroughly enjoyed the market tour and Joel did not lead us astray... we were there early and did not have to deal with hordes of people,... More

We booked this last minute and Joel accommodated a personal tour/class for us the same day. It was such a good night, definitely recommend it! Joel met us with a bottle of cava and took us around the local markets before taking us through a cooking class, the food was the best we had during our 5 day stay in... More

I had a memorable experience at the Papa Serra cooking school. My friends and I had initially been disappointed by some of the cities more cliché tapas dishes, but Joel and the Papa Serra experience ensured we were able to taste the authentic Catalan cuisine I knew existed but is impossible to find when you are a tourist. The day... More

I was the sixth and final person to join this afternoons tour. When i arrived i was warmly greeted by our guide with a smile and a delicious morsel a hazelnut rolled soft cheese he had just purchased and a splash of cava. The group was collection foodies and tourists looking for a more authentic experience which made me (and... More
