Had read about this Church before our visit, saw the symbolic geese in the fountain courtyard. The courtyard was a nice cool spot on a hot day, with toilets. A 14th century historical cathedral in good condition.

All the church tell a story of old Spain ,from the King and Queen to common people and sailors. I disliked the noise of visitors during the ceremony.

This church is located in a part of town our tour guide said was being reestablished by a lot of younger artist types, and she was right. My wife refers to this type of community as bohemian. The shops and cafes in the immediate area around the church were full of young people (late 20's, early 30's) and the area... More

The church is wonderful! It has a couple of entrances, and we came by one of the entrances, that wasn't the main one. So, we weren't really all that impressed with the church's outside look (we got a bit spoilt with all the kitsch that Gaudi is all about), although it is quite a look when you come to the... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
