Loved this church - the stained glass is wonderful and a real sense of history. A quick visit was all we had time for but I am glad we made it. Lovely cafe outside for a spot of refreshment also

We had a most interesting guided tour which gave us an insight into the history of the church and how the various periods of unrest in Spain impacted on the building eg Fire damage etc .

Very impressive building from and architectural point of view. Visited by a lot of tourists. Expect to go slow and take the time to tour the basilica and examine the different sections of it inside and out. The touring columns is to examine closely as the way it was built. Impressive ceiling. Inside walls lined up with different closed up... More

Whilst Sagreda Familia is unmissable, this ancient building has a unique Old World awe about it. The cathedral is fantastic, but be sure to go round the back and lose yourself in the calm amongst the orange trees of the cloisters.

The other glowing reviews here are spot on for me. Santa Maria del Mar is a beautiful church. I don't think I did enough church visits to say whether or not it's the most beautiful in the city, but I think it'd have to be pretty special to top this. We were lucky enough to arrive to visit just as... More

This church has something that makes it unique. And it can be an intangible thing. The proportions of the space, separation and height of the columns that make the place has an atmosphere that I've only found a few places to go. as might be the Pantheon in Rome or (Hagia Sophia) in Istanbul. It is by far the most... More

A gem of Catalan gothic architecture. Free to enter. Don't be mislead - this is not "Cathedral of Santa Eulalia / La Seu" with 13 gees, this is "St. Mary of the Sea Cathedral (Iglesia de Santa Maria del Mar)". A lot of travelers pictures was posted in wrong location...

This is a free attraction, and a must as the building is very relaxing. The paintings and crypts are very well maintained. Ladies, make sure you cover your shoudlers, and wear shorts that are around the knee - if your clothes are too revealing you won't be allowed in.

This is the most beautiful church in Barcelona. A rigid early gothic style that exhumes an intimate atmosphere. Find some rest here before diving into tourist hell again.
