We didn't get the chance to go in but our tour guide from Runner Beans Tours gave us an insight to the whos whats and wheres of the building. Its a neo gothic and very different from the original building but one would never know. Definitely worth a visit and just next to it you will see the old roman... More

Due to the damage done during the Spanish Civil War, the interior of this large church is simple, bare, showing clearly the "bones" of the building, very ancient and yet very modern.

you will have a few tourists around and will not be forced to pay an expensive ticket. Sometimes you will be lucky and the basilica's organist will practice in the church offering an unexpected organ concert.

This was at the end of our road and formed one side of the many squares in the gothic area. Nice to sit outside with a glass of vino blanco

Nestled in the heart of the Barri Gothic and just a short walk from the older and more famous sister, The Barcelona Cathedral..... Is this more quiet and demure younger sister. A little colder and darker, but not less beautiful. With amazing altar and beautiful doors. It's a great site and a great place to catch your breath after walking... More

Amazing building by Gaudi. The whole place is well-organized, there are plenty of information you can read from the boards.

We love seeing old churches and basilicas, and Santa Maria del Mar was lovely. Very simple in design, and easy to walk through in a short visit. Entrance fees are reasonable, and you can even go up to the second level and look down on the rest of the church. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy Gothic architecture.
