Great Bascilica. We were fortunate enough to attend a concert there at night in the side chappel, fantastic, do it. Enjoy this very old building.

If you read this book dont miss it, this is the real thing! It is a very ancient cathedral very diferent from the one in the Barri Gotic. The construction took about 17 years in the 1200

Built in the early 14th century, this church still has the power to take one's breath away. Soaring roofs and vivid stained glass enhance the dignity of the old stone; the many chapels remind the viewer of the role played in Barcelona's history by the Church and its saints. There used to be a model of a ship suspended over... More

Barcelona is known for the football team, for Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, and so many more things. But this church is one of those places where you will not find those big amounts of people and you will love the place. It is a beautiful church. It has beautiful window panes and when you sit in one of its bank,... More

When arriving, i was expecting to see just the basilica. But in addition to admiring the interior architecture, there is also an elevator that leads to the roof, a beautiful courtyard with fountains, and a small museum. I was expecting to take no longer than 30 minutes, but i ended up staying much longer.

Beautiful church off a lovely square. Soaring spaces. Nice places outside to have some cava and tapas and contemplate beautiful exterior before going inside.

We visited the church during the Good Friday celebrations. The church was packed with people attending the services and by Tourists ( who should have waited before visiting the church). Still, it was a very nice experience: the architecture is great and the decorations are simple but effective. A must in Barcelona.

Interesting Catalan Gothic architecture. The desk clerk at our hotel told us about a best-selling novel revolving around this cathedral. naturally the gift shop there had copies in several languages to sell, and of course I had to buy a copy. Haven't read it yet, but it looks reminiscent of Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth."

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighborhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
