Beautiful gothic church in the old town. Too often people bypass this treasure for the larger cathedral a few blocks away. Don't miss this though - its simple and beautiful.

Simpler than many of the other Barcelona churches, the soaring columns and arches, plus the multiple stained-glass windows make this a beautiful place to visit at any time. Note: after perhaps 5pm, entry fee is waved - don't wait - pay the fee and see it before the crowds descend.

this church is more than a work of art, it is mystic. if you have read "la catedral del mar" you will understand. if you have not, get the book and read it. it will give you a unique history of old barcelona and then when you visit, you will be transported back in time. dont miss this church.

To my mind, it's just a very large and very old cathedral that could use a clean up. I know that sounds ignorant of me, given the high ratings it gets by Trip Advisor reviewers, but, seriously, I have to say that when I walked inside I was a bit disappointed.

Our apartment was right around the corner from this church, so we had the benefit of seeing the bell tower lit up at night. Inside the highlight is the stained glass, especially when the light catches it just right, and the nativity set up down in the crypt.

Beautiful old church, wonderful stained glass. The age of this edifice the architecture all add up to a sum total of overwhelmingly awesome. A truly must visit.

In Barri Gotic area, beautiful from inside and out. Various saints have sections dedicated to them along the inside walls. Plenty of carvings and sculptures to gaze upon. Lovely area to wander about, check out the side streets.

This is a beautiful traditional church but the real gem is in the guided tour. For longer than an hour, we were personally guided around the cathedral, inside and out -- even stood on the roof. Historically informative and stunning views!

As so many other reviewers have commented, this is a beautiful church. There was no entrance fee and it was just beautiful. The architecture and the stained glass, so wonderful. We were there on a Sunday so we weren't sure we'd get to go inside but got there shortly before 10 am and were there as the doors opened. Had... More

If you can, read Ildofonso Falcones's historical fiction novel "Cathedral of the Sea" to help it come more alive for you.
