This is one of the most exciting places I go often in Barcelona when friends visit, with my Saturday photography group or with visitors who request this photocircuit. It is now known because of the Carlos Ruiz Zafon´s book that has been translated to many languages and also because it is a place where less is more. Being a church... more

The church is an easy walk from the metro station (Jaume I) and is incredibly beautiful. I recommend printing up a short page of history or bringing a guidebook to give you some background to read while you are there. A visit should not take long and is worth a little of your time. Inside, is gorgeous with lots of... more

A truly amazing gothic church with loads of character and worth seeing if venturing around this part of Barcelona. This area is commonly known as the Born district and is full of littl boutique shops, the picasso museum is located close by also and is definitely worth the visit. more

The word Cathedral does not mean "big, fancy church." Cathedral denotes the church where a Bishops chair or "cathedra" is located. There is Cathedral in Barcelona, the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia. The term Basilica is sometimes used to donote a big, fancy church like St. Peter's in Rome, Italy, which is not a Catheral, either. more

The building was done in the 14th century, and the magnificent stained glass was added in the 15th to 18th centuries. I can see why the previous poster chose this as a wedding spot, it would... more

OK, I am slightly biased! I got married there in August '06, so of course I love it! Thing is, I loved the place as soon as I saw it's magnificent towers appearing in front of us as we strolled down the street from the direction of Las Ramblas...the huge door and fantastic circular stained glass window add even more... more

This was my favorite cathedral of Barcelona. This Gothic cathedral was beautiful without being overly ornate. Making it beautiful was the stained glass which was stunning. The atmosphere of this cathedral actually made it a very good place to pray or meditate. We actually liked it so much that we visited it daily to meditate. more
