The Roman archaeological remains are shown to their best advantage by elevated walkways and a very good audio guide system. Visitors can walk around a district of workshops and factories from the 2nd century AD and get an insight into the daily life of the city's inhabitants. Well worth a visit.

The bulk of this museum is the underground Roman ruins, one of the largest in Europe. I would highly recommend going if you enjoy Roman history.

Maybe ive see one too many sites. I dunno. Brilliant preservation and novel being under the building and not usual open air. It is very nicely done but by the god it's a dull. Needs more artefacts and a bit of humanity. Lacks soul.

If you like history then you would love this place. I cant remember exactly how much it was but recall that it was a cheap way to spend a couple of hours. Great insight into Barcelona's past. Only negative I have is that some of the above ground displays were in Spanish and Catalan only and without being able to... More

There are extensive underground excavations which are interesting for those interested in archeology and exhibits of artifacts from subsequent periods in Barcelona's history. Well presented for those interested in history. Ticket includes entry into very well-preserved 14th century reception room and chapel in the old royal residence.

Really nice archeological museum. 7? entrance fee Audioguide added great value, because signs did not cover everything and some of them were Spanish only.

I spent the better part of a morning here. This is one of those sites that you will either love or be bored to tears by. Go with someone who loves history. Go down a floor and see Barcelona's Roman foundations. A pleasure.

The City History Museum in Barcelona (Museu d'Historia de la Ciutat) is located in the Gothic neighborhood at the "Placa del Rei". It is fairly easy to find and close by (behind) the Barcelona cathedral. It is a wonderful underground museum that takes you back in time thousands of years to the Roman era. The children loved entering the elevator... More
