A brilliant museum, sitable both for kids and for adult geology/zoology enthusiasts!

The museum is located in a rather boring area focused on conference and hotels, a bit outside of the city centre. The building and facilities are very modern, but quite interesting as far as modern architecture goes. The exhibitions themselves were nicely presented in modern and well-done exhibition halls. The content of the main exhibition is heavily focused on geology... More

A very well organised museum, with brilliant visual displays and information screens that could be translated into several languages. The information is not over-simplified for children, so there was pleny for adults to read and learn about too. I am a keen geology enthusiast I still found that I learned a lot from visiting this muesum, and some of the... More

This must be the mother of all museums of natural sciences! Housed in a wonderful dark blue concrete building, slashed by glass panes (designed by the Basel based architects Herzog & de Moron) it is the centrepiece of the Forum area, in the western outskirts of Barcelona. Originally conceived as an exhibition hall without any specific function it is now... More

We loved all of it, from the explanation of dark matter to the movement-activated crab in the entrance. As 2 PhD scientists we found the explanations simple but not condescending and felt we had painlessly learned things outside our own fields. We thought the displays, which included skeletons, fossils and preserved whole animals and the equipment used to investigate some... More

Great if you have kids. Not so much for amusement but excellent for knowledge. Takes time to explore but children will leave a little bit wiser. Dont hesitate to take kids there even if the trip is just for fun.

Very interesting architecture from outside. Inside is a bit too dark sometimes. A very modern and rich museum mainly aiming at knowlegable adults.

Went there with 2 kids of 2 and 5. It was less accessible for the small one but the older one had a great time! I did as well! Great temporary exhibition about venenus animals: snake, spiders and others! I recommend on a rainy day!

The Blue Museum was definitely the highlight of our trip. The collection is very interesting. The museum is divided into sections where each one represents an era on earth. You move through the eras in increasing order of years until you reach the animals, plants, and rocks sections at the end. All sections contain these display tables with models of... More
