Took a day tour with Explore Catalunya which my daughter and I especially liked because it was a small group of only 7 people. About an hour's drive from Barcelona...not so scenic on the way up but as one approaches Montserrat, the views are startling and so very interesting. The unique rock formations surround a very well kept and managed... More

The mountains around are great, the monastery a bit overloaded - well that's matter of taste, but if you are short on time - have a look to the nature!

The Turisme Tour to Montserrat was an excellent way to spend the day and very reasonably priced. For 63 Euros, the bus picked us up in Barcelona and whisked us off to the Goudi Crypt then off to Montserrat for a train ride up the mountain and a private tour of the music school. After the tour, we were left... More

One of the places that you absolutely must see! It is really fantastic. Alone the journey to this mountain is really impressive. You can see the mountains from the distance. To see the rock formations from different angles, gives one the impression that the rocks would move .. The journey by cable car to the top mountain peaks is another... More

This ,ay have been one of the best bus tours I've ever taken! Now I'm not a bus person by rule. There is not other way to see Montserrat than by private car or bus. It is WAY out there, and for me, this trip seemed the best way on a Sunday. It left at the crack of dawn, which... More

This entire place is absolutely amazing, but very crowded. Be prepared for lots of walking on steep terrain. There was some sort of festival while we visited. I felt like I was in a movie scene. Definitely worth the time and trouble to get there. There is a huge cafeteria to eat - - the food was just OK -... More

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
