I prefer to visit the older historic sites that are steeped in both history and tradition. The Catedral de Barcelona certainly ticked all of these boxes for me. It is amazing how buildings such as this were constructed so very long ago. The Catedral is a very beautiful atmospheric and peaceful place to visit. When I was there an amazing... More

I was blown away by the cathedral, truly beautiful. Take your time and stroll around. When we visited, a soprano was practising with the organist and the acoustic in the cathedral was amazing.

Beautiful example of Gothic style architecture with soaring arches and stained glass. This is an active church with worship going on. Many of the alcoves are extensive works of art in addition to be religious. In our week in Barcelona we walked by many times and there was always musicians on the front steps playing to the passing crowd in... More

A bold statement to make but for me this is better than the more popular and famous Sagrada Familia. I prefer the older style of cathedral and find it more remarkable how they managed to build such impressive places so long ago. Obviously everyone should visit Sagrada Familia but this is also worth a visit.

It is a beautiful place where people always organize street markets in front of it. Inside, is very peaceful and well preserved. The architecture is fantastic!

Great church to visit. Fantastic architecture and not that expensive (7euro). A must and really close to the other attractions.

A beautiful church to see inside and out. The old world style, gothic style architecture is amazing to behold. There is always a crowd out front. We stopped in while a service was going on and the services are held in Catalan only. Which I think is great because it helps preserve the language.

The church is not the most grandest of cathedrals, however, the Catalonian Sardana dances performed on Saturday evenings and usually sundays around noon are fun to watch as the locals dance in unity arms linked together promoting community pride.

Walk around in peace, reflect on the history and significance of the building, its creation and the meaning. It is still an operational religious house so respect it and those who come to worship. It is well worth the few euro to catch the lift to the roof top!

Pick up the audio tour when you enter to give you some of the history. It will tell you to look for the painting of Mary holdings Jesus while he died. Look in the art gallery at the back of the church. Worth the visit and amazing outside facade. This also beside the Roman walls. You would get the info... More
