The best of the cathedral is going onto the roof. The best view ever over the old part of town. The next best thing is the patio, a fantastic place with geese (which I used to hear during the night when I lived around the corner). The cathedral itself is nice enough with the sarcophagi of Jaume I and Eulàlia.

The cathedral was a highlight of our weekend in Barcelona. Amazing architecture and stained glass. It was very quiet and felt calm. We went up to the roof and enjoyed the city view €7 well spent

In total contrast to Sagrada Famlia, this is a traditional church. We went up to the roof but not sure it was really worth paying the admission fee for as you can get in for free later in the day

Big beautiful old European style Cathedral. While in Barcelona and walking around the old town I do recommend dropping in.

I love this place! It is very charming. Interesting architecture. However, it was too crowded when I was there.

The plaza in front of this cathedral is a wonderful central location. A large Tourist Information Office is located across the plaza. I particularly like to view this cathedral at night with the lights. It is rather dark inside, but worth a visit.

My husband and I always try to visit some religious monuments when visiting a city and I would say if you would like to do only one in Barcelona, do this one

While many visitors are enthralled by La Sagrada Familia, I thoroughly enjoyed the old world charm and grace of the Barcelona Catedral. Peaceful, beautiful and warm. We enjoyed it at night and got to see the nativite scene before Christmas. A must see on your Barcelona visit.

We wandered in on a Sunday...so some closed to tourists (as this is a working cathedral). It was a magnificent church with a very peaceful and reflective ambience to it. Well worth the visit to the cloister of St. Eulalia...with the geese (13....one for each year of her life)...it is quaint and beautiful. Areas for quiet contemplation and reflection and... More

It's a beautiful cathedral. It was built in 14th century. You can't miss it if you're in Barri Gotic.

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
