Great atmosphere. Unfortunately when I was here there was no live music but was still a fab place. Full of tourists though.
...it's a pipe club with smoke prohibition... Unfortunately this was changed I suppose under pressure of non smoker regulations. Anyway, this spot is worth to see when you ring the entrance bell and step up to an apartment where people dance tango and enjoy the atmosphere. Take a drink and enjoy the view at night over placa reial.
Not easy to find ... but a wonderful gem! I came to dance Tango on a Monday night ... the music was good, the level of dancing very good and the atmosphere great. I wish I hadn't been so tired from a day of walking around the city so I could have stayed longer. The €3 entrance .... really reasonable.
so much fun to be had in here despite the quieter atmosphere. Messy hazy memories. I liked the decor and there was a tasty manouche jazz band on one time I was in.
Quite hard to find went in the day and went round twice before spotting the tiny name sign, pipa. in the topleft hand corner. buzzed in at 11.30pm, up the stairs and slip into a different world. great little bar area, with sherlock holmes and salvador dali items. another larger room with a stage, unfortunately no one was playing the... An amazing place to go for a jazz gig on a Sunday night. Be there early to get a seat and do not hesitate to pay the steep price for the beer! I mean, you have a 2h-ish gig for free with some skilled artists.
Its 11pm, so you ring the buzzer. Nobody answers you just hear the door pop open. You open it and see an old dark building and a stairway. You walk up the dark stairway, until you see an old apartment door that says the Pipa club in small lettering. Opening the door, you listen to old 40s music. It is... More
Dropped by and loved the place and the music. Great django style music. And what a cool place with the buzzer and everything. They apparently also have great tango evenings on Mondays and Tuesdays
Last night I found this secluded place, and it was a pleasant surprise for a fan of Sherlock Holmes. It was rather late when me and my friend were invited to this pub, which I had never seen or heard of before, even though I actually live in the same building. The lovely Plaça Reial in the heart of Barcelona... More
Went here whilst on a long weekend in Barca. It's a great bar which is particularly appealing amongst the numerous touristy places in the area. The people we met there were either locals or young travellers- I think it attracts a good crowd as you need to know where / what it is in order to find it. Highly recommend.
