We usually enjoy food markets and i am sure that if it was not stuffed with thousands of visitors it could have been better.Actually we were there twice but the first time we did not succeed to get through the main gate because of the crowds.

Just off La Rambla in Raval we stumbled across the huge Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria. It was pretty rammed when we went so be prepared for some elbows and your toes being trodden on (mainly near the entrance and exit) but once inside it really is worth it.

La Boqueria (Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria) is a large food market on La Rambla in central Barcelona. The market can be traced back to 1217 as an open air market. With years of development, it now has the metal roof since 1914.

La Boqueria is definitely worth a visit while in Barcelona. It's right off of Las Ramblas (easy to find - you'll see the huge crowds on one of the side streets) It's fun to just walk around & try a few foods if you're interested (but a lot of the stuff needs to be cooked)
