Description: Spanish Trails was born in 2001 as one of the first small group (max. 8...
Spanish Trails was born in 2001 as one of the first small group (max. 8 pers.) day tour companies and incoming travel agencies to experience the best of what Barcelona and all of Catalunya, Spain have to offer. Our year-round, regularly scheduled day tours are all-inclusive fully guided all day experiences, though guests are more than welcome to explore on their own. We cover the corners of Catalunya including the Costa Brava, Pyrenees, Girona, Montserrat and Penedes and Priorat wine regions, as well as half and full day Barcelona city tours and food & wine tours. We also specialize in customized family tours, private touring and small group events. We use comfortable touring vans and our staff are fun, experienced local guides with a deep love and knowledge of the regional history and culture. Average group size in 2011 was 5 clients/tour and we have now proudly served over 13,000 clients over the last 12 years. See you soon! The Spanish Trails team.

We took the train from Barcelona to Laverna-Siberates (don't worry, it's easy) and were met by our guide, Albert, and two bikes. My wife, Albert and I then rode to a local maker of Cava; a Father and Daughter team who make just 20,000 bottles a year. It was an incredibly personal tour and fascinating. We then rode into the... My husband and I booked with Spanish Trails because they were highly recommended to us by my husband's colleague. We decided to book our first excursion to the Priorat wine region of Spain and were not disappointed. If you love wine and want to experience a day of a lifetime, then you must book this tour and you must request... More

We had a great time visiting the Monserrat monastery and a Catalan vineyard with Andrew as our guide. He was informative, fun and knew exactly how to get to the best parts of the tour. The only recommendation I would say wear comfortable shoes you can almost "hike" in and be prepared to get hot.

I did a five hour food and wine tour with Danny around El Born. I was really impressed with his passion and knowledge of the food and wines of the area. We sampled different styles of food and wine at approximately five different restaurants. From farm style oven cooked meat to really creative deserts. It was a small group and... More

My friend and I signed up for the Medieval Mountain Village and Panoramic Trails trip the day before we left Spain. By far, the best thing we did the whole trip, and we did a lot of things. Our tour guide was Jon Lord, and he was amazing as well. He knew everything about the Medieval Village, and we bombarded... More

My friend and I did the kayak tour. Alex was our guide and I have to say he ranks in the top 3 guides/tours that I've had the pleasure of experiencing. He was friendly yet professional and I also had my first water cave climbing experience! He made effort to be friendly to all and you can tell he genuinely... More

I cannot describe in enough words how amazing our tour of Montaserrat and a local winery was! It was made all the more better with our incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and easy-going guide Viktor. His wealth of knowledge of religion, politics, sports, health and well-being, culture and history is 2nd to none. The tour is itself was exciting and informative, very... More

Had an enjoyable evening with Danny, who has a wealth of knowledge in Catalonia, local food and wine. Highlight of the evening was the experience the different side of barcelona, where locals hang out. The choice of restaurants was good in terms of the ambivalent, food and wine. There were lots of drinks and ended up quite tipsy!! The day... More

Just some tips in case you don't think prior to the tour: bring proper footwear for hiking ie: sneakers, or some kind of running / hiking shoe, swimsuit, towel, sunblock(!), sunglasses, camera, water. There is a bit of walking uphill towards the end. Be prepared for that. It's tough in the heat. The lunch is really nice. Seafood or steak... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
