A smaller version of Madrid's main square. Segovia is a far quieter city than the former but it does mean you can absorb more detail about the individual buildings in this square. Its true that, if you wander just a few feet from the Plaza Major, you will be able to enjoy the same food for several euros less; however,... More

A small picturesque plaza. Not much to see, but a good place to sit for awhile, relax and take in the view of the cathedral.

Great town center with wonderful views of the cathedral and bell tower that are nicely illuminated at night.

Unlike other "Plaza Mayor" around Spain which are architecturally uniform, this one stands out for presenting buildings from many different periods. From the romanic San Miguel Church, where Isabel la Catolica was crowned Queen of Castilla, to the gothic Cathedral and the Imperial City Hall. Always steaming with people, with many bars and restaurants nearby.

We visited at the end of Semana Santa and enjoyed the processions arriving at the cathedral from one of the many bars, we then returned in the afternoon and evening as the plaza changed to a family playground and to a relaxed meeting place. Every time of day has its own set of colours and shadows. It is a seductive... More

we were there on a weekday, which might have contributed to the impression, namely: very large, if not majestic like plaza mayor in madrid, with some lovely architecture, but curiously sleepy, even though right in the middle between the aqueduct and the alcazar and right next to the cathedral. but it was a very pleasing sleepiness, like the the town... There are many wonderful shops and cafes in the plaza. I love sitting there and drinking coffee while watching people doing what they do. The place is full of lives and joy.

This plaza is very picturesque. When we were visiting in October, it was not particularly crowded or touristy. It was a very pleasant place to sit in an outdoor cafe with a drink and tapas and watch the world go by. Great view of nearby cathedral. Nice old clock tower which chimes the hour as does the cathedral. Plenty of... More
