We had lunch here looking at the cathedral. It is really a great place even if it is EXTREMELY touristy. Look beyond that...just enjoy it.

When we were there on 19 Jun, there was a bazaar selling all sorts of stuff from clothings, shoes, flowers to fruits. Nearby there is a beautiful cathedral but most of us just stayed to shop.

Watch the pickpockets but this is a fun place. There are some great picture opportunities and nice shops along the way. The street leading between the aqueduct and the Alcazar has the best places to shop IMHO.

It does seem like every town in Spain has a plaza called Plaza Mayor and they all start looking similar after a while. It is a good looking square with shops and restaurants, but I wouldn't be seeking it out. Shopping is not my thing. You'll see it if you visit Cathedral since it is located right next to Plaza... Like the aquaduct in Segovia, the Plaza Mayor is a place not to be missed. It is in the heart of the town, a place to wander round, a place to experience true Spanish culture. It has everything. Just sit there and take in the smells, the feeling and the joviality and loudness of the Spaniards. The people know how... More

I love it when public spaces are really used and loved by local residents as is this plaza. People strolling, kids playing etc at most hours!

Our accommodation was on this plaza and it was fantastic. It has the cathedral, restaurants and a market one day while we were there.

Loved the buzzy, friendly atmosphere, cappuccino in one of the parasol restaurants, and the 2 de mayo army marching past! A wonderful people-watching space.
