We stayed in a hotel on the Plaza Mayor.When we visited it was relatively quiet and it was lovely to walk around this area .
The Plaza Mayor of Segovia is a lovely place to visit. There are numerous restaurants where you can sit outside in the plaza. The various streets that feed into the Plaza leaves you minutes away (walking) from the aqueduct, shopping, and the Alcazar (castle). The beautiful cathedral is right in the Plaza and at night when illuminated is breathtaking.
Thre were a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops. It was good atomosphere. From bus station, you should go to the water bridge first and turn right to find a small steep. After walkig along the small steep, the place is the top of hill.
Sitting in the Plaza Mayor looking at the amazing Cathedral, while drinking a lovely glass of wine was an excellent end to the day of our arrival in Segovia. The café on the corner opposite the Cathedral offers very good service at reasonable prices.
All the surrounding cafes give FREE tapas with each drink so sit and enjoy the sights until late evening. The Cathederal is especially lovely in the evening light when sitting at a table overlooking the Plaza.
There are a myriad of restaurants to choose from. The square is open-feeling, but surrounded by buildings. Good views of the Cathedral from here. The occasional car zooming through is distracting.
La Plaza Mayor is the heart of Segovia. The Cathedral is located in the Plaza Mayor along with some of the best restaurants.
