Great Plaza to while away the hours

The largest Plaza in Madrid, which is undergoing a major restoration. Plenty of bars and cafes and some interesting shops, only marred by the noise of the building works.

This whole city is just so lovely. The plaza is always bustling. Steer clear of the restaurants directly on the square. We walked just one block down one of the side streets and had two glasses of wine and tapas for under 4 euro. You won't find that on the square. Grab something to go and go sit in the... More

The entire town of Segovia boasts a great array of architectural and historical places. The Plaza Mayor was very beautiful, with small town touches everywhere. There were a lot of tourists the day we went, but there are many places to wonder around, and explore. Very nice to see, be prepared for a lot of walking.

You can't beat the scenery. While the plaza is typical in many ways I think the cathedral in the background set it apart. It's a relaxing place to sit on a warm summer day and people watch.

We sat and had dinner in one of the restaurants in the square, good food lovely rose wine and the joy of watching al the Spanish families on a Saturday evening stroll. The church bells ringing every 30 minutes added a context to this lovely old square.

As with all Plazas in Spain, you are not lacking in entertainment, food, shopping, etc. This is no exception. The Plaza Mayor is very lovely, with many trees to get out of the heat (while I was there, it was 104 in the sun!). The lovely cobblestone just adds to its chams.

Nice place to enjoy people watching. This is where the locals gather to meet and have a drink or ice cream. Pastries, goodies, coffee and drinks are all available.

The Plázaro Mayor is very nice and next to the cathedral. It is a pity that in summer theres are music performances which require awfull big technical installations.
