a beautiful park near the cathedrals. There is a well in the center where couples can place a lock with their initials. Supposedly the setting for La Celestina.

I love coming here, to sit and relax, maybe with a book or some work to do. You don't feel at all like you're in the center of Salamanca as it is so quiet and peaceful in these gardens. The gardens are tucked away nearby the cathedral, easy to miss unless you stumble upon them, but well worth the find.

One of my favourite places in Salamanca. It's almost always open and there's always something to see, even in winter. Make sure to take pictures of the cathedral behind you. In spring and summer buy a coffee in some cafeteria near the cathedral and bring it there, smell the flowers and enjoy time with friends or a book.

This is a small garden on the back of the old cathedral. Not easy to find entrance and very enclosed and where you will find peace and a moment to rest on your visit. Fantastic views to the river.

A charming renaissance garden with shady areas for the summer. Open from 10 am until sunset - don't get locked inside! The young (and not-so-young, I guess) have taken up the Italian habit of locking a padlock to a wrought-iron well in the gardens, to signify their everlasting love. It's a small garden, with literary overtones - a statue of... More

These gardens are delightful - and much more extensive than they appear from their entrance. They're well-tended, semi-formal gardens, with shaded walkways, some of them formed from avenues of vines, opening out to any extended passage along the top of the city walls. Excellent views from the walls across the newer suburbs of Salamanca (OK, by itself not a very... More

I visited on an evening in June so the garden was in full bloom. There was a lovely atmosphere; couples walking, children playing and even some friends playing acoustic guitar. Although situated in the city centre, there is a pervading atmosphere of calm and quiet. Aside from the beautiful flowers there is also a monument in the centre of the... More

This garden near the Cathedrals is a lovely little place with a view of the river and some of the city and Casalis on the right side. On weekends, it's full of tourists but I imagine in the week it'll be very peaceful and quiet, I'm looking forward to seeing it in the spring/ summer as at the moment it's... More

Beautiful gardens 10 minutes walking from Plaza Mayor and very close to the Old Cathedral. They are beautiful in any time of the year (I visited several times) and even at night. It has a nice view over a part of the city and the river and is very quiet and pleasant to go for a walk alone, with friends... More
