I had no idea this cathedral was on par with Notre Dame and Chartre. This is probably the most spectacular display of stained glass in any gothic cathedral. I actually visited twice.

The Cathedral in Leon - Santa Maria de Regla has the architecture that is quite similar to the one in Paris- Notre Dam in terms of appearance, but the inside- wow, here comes the Light! The glass-staining make you literally dizzy of colors and lights! A genuine work of art! There is also a chance to attend an organ concert,... More

This is possibly the best cathedral in Spain. The French influence is striking - brilliantly colored stained glass windows all around. Each and every side chapel offers something wonderful - sculpture or painted altar pieces. A genuine work of art.

This awesome buiding, along with the Cathedral of Burgos, are the two undisputed top stars of the Camino de Santiago. Its stainless glass windows are second to none.

Possibly Leon's biggest attraction and once inside it is easy to see why with the huge stained glass windows throwing light in all directions, lighting up the huge arched ceilings. Well worth a visit.

What can I say? It's beautiful, and a place not to be missed. I had always wanted to go to Leon, and so this was a natural place to explore.

A beautiful building and the audio-guide was one of the best I've come across. I'm a bit of a cathedral freak, although my wife isn't - she thought it great too!

Without any electricity! Beautiful stained glass windows throughout the cathedral like nowhere else we have been. We were fortunate to be in Leon for a few days as the first day we tried to walk in, there was a wedding. That has been mentioned before by prior travelers. We experienced the same but were fortunate to go the next day.... More

Don't just view the cathedral from outside, head inside and marvel at the gothic interior and the superb stained glass. The free audio guide (as part of the entrance fee) is well worth listening to and well translated into English. Allow yourself at least an hour, more if you can. Check for the lunchtime closure when planning your visit.

Historic cathedral on Camino trail. Lovely carvings and Baroque gold leaf work. Relatively new organ from Germany. If you want to see one of the most spectacular cathedrals in the world, Burgos is a must!
