When we went, the exterior of the cathedral was being refurbed/whitewashed. When this is finished this building will be truly amazing. For a start if dominates the plaza and is, I believe, the 3rd largest Cathedral in Central America. The Cathedral has been awarded World Heritage Site status - and it is truly deserved. The facade of the building is... More

Architecture amazing. Can go all the way to the top for a small fee... Also can have a tasty cafe con leche right outside admiring the works.

This is one of the greatest cathedrals of Spain and it is a destination in its own right. The commentary in the audioguide is very good and the spectacular stained windows should be seen at several times during the day to appreciate the effect of sunlight on them.

Having visited Burgos and Leon cathedrals on successive days I find I cannot decide which is the better. Both are superb, and deserving of 6*, if that were possible. The origins of this cathedral go back to local rivalry with Burgos in the XII century. This had to be bigger and better. Like Burgos's, it dominates the old town and... More

Impressive exterior - overall design and of course the "flying buttresses". Wait until dark to really be impressed - although it will be late when it finally gets dark, even in spring.

It is a magnificent structure with stained glass windows to rival Chartres Cathedral. Good audio guide. Discounts for the aged!

Be aware of limited hours open to the public (only mornings). apart from that, find the real gothic in Spain and a must for pilgrims to Santiago

Don't usually do church's but a visit was recommended by our concierge who was keen for us to make a visit also recommending the late afternoon as the light was better . We paid the €5 entrance and picked up our audio guides . Although sceptical we really enjoyed our visit to this 13 century cathedral . The audio was... More

The 5€ charge includes s very good audio guide, but I put it down after a while & just looked at the light in the stained glass. My first visit was at dusk and I went again near mid-day to enjoy the difference in light. Try to get there before the large groups because they are very disruptive, talking &... More
