The cathedral in Burgos is very large and was built in several sections. It has so much history. Spend a few hours here wandering and learning and then enjoy the city and great food nearby.

An ongoing restoration programme is cleaning up this cathedral to look almost-new and polishing up one of the most impressive jewels in the treasure box of Spanish monuments. Its almost impossible to do it justice in a few words here - you just have to see it. The historical significance of this cathedral as well as its architectural genealogy ensure... More

My Wife and I were on our way to Santander and decided to stop over in Burgos. We thought that Burgos was really good, it was December and quite cold. Walking around Burgos we saw the Cathedral in the Centre. The building is spectacular, there was a €7 entry fee but it was well worth it. The bonus was that... More

A beautiful cathedral both inside and out. We spent about an hour inside, by the end it all became a bit overwhelming with so much detail. It is worth having a walk around the outside in the day and night. Completely worth the 7€ to get in.

Very impressive and delicate cathedral, an ouevre d'art and world heritage. Together with the cathedral from Leon are the most beatiful cathedrals in Spain. It has maintained most of its gothic structure (different from several other cathedrals that incorporated a lot of new baroque features).

The cathedral is a beautiful work of art. Burgos is the first major city on the Camino, which is beautiful in its own right. The interior of the cathedral is ornate and beautiful and is the final resting place of El Cid Campeador and his sword. He is the Spanish hero who was instrumental in ejecting the Moors from Spain.... More

Surely it is not possible to visit Burgos without visiting this World Heritage Site Cathedral. Chapel after chapel of beautiful interesting and historically significant art and architecture. The audio guide is very well done and essential to the full experience . In February it was cold in the cathedral. Dress warmly.

This cathedral was and still is the site of walking pilgrimages across Spain. During the fall, hundreds of people on foot and by bike stop here during their travels-- just like medieval times.

This ancient church is filled with ornate carving and details. There are many chapels off the main part that each have their own feel and decor. I can just imagine the pilgrims coming through on their walks and stopping at a cathedral completely filled with awe as they know that this is the story (the Bible) and the person (Jesus)... More
