There are so many little facts about the cathedral, one should just go to Wikipedia and read all about the individual chapels and naves. It is a beautiful church and a MUST DO when visiting Toledo.

Imagine a deeply religious-themed indoor gargantuan mega-mall: extremely huge, tall, with somewhere near 20 separate chapels (little mini-churches like separate stores in a mall) bordering the main attractions (Capilla Mayor altar piece and Coro or choir) in the center. Began in the 1200's, it has endured much, including Napoleon's quest for treasures. It is absolutely and completely overwhelming and sensory... More

Simply the best cathedral so far I have seen. There is a door reserved for tourist and you have to buy the ticket at the shop located in front of the door.

Wonderful to visit and you receive the Audio free with you ticket. Architecture is just amazing - stonework unbelievable to think that they managed to sculpt this so long ago, true workmanship.

The 13th century gothic cathedral was beautiful with stunning art over the altar and throughout the cathedral. The works of Goya, El Greco, and Velasquez are represented. The breathtaking gold and silver, crowns, and chalices that were on display were breathtaking! The chains hanging on the outside of the cathedral walls were an unsettling reminder of the past.

This was one of our "must see" places on our trip. Who would have guessed it happened that we went the day they were unveiling a new light show of the exterior of the church. I would have planned my entire trip around this. Check out youtube for the video, it will put EVERYTHING else light show to shame. And... More

Lovely catedral in a beautiful city. This is worth a visit especially on a hot day, so cool in there. Lit a candle for a friend who had just died, a fitting place I think.

We have visited many cathedrals, and this is one of the most impressive and beautiful. From both outside and inside. Interior is huge, altar very beautiful (not garrish), wonderful art from El Greco and other masters. We happened to be there on one of the summer nights when they do the sound & light show on the outside. Spectacular! Big... More

The scale, beauty and richness of this cathedral is truly mind blowing. It may be a 13th century construction, but it is still as glorious. Words do not suffice to describe how grand this building is, both from the thousands of detailed motifs on the outside, to the masterpiece sculptures and frescoes that decorate the inside. Definitely a must-visit if... More
