Not only on the top of mountain, it is also the top sight you can see/visit in the city of Toledo. This was our last stop in the city, first we were even considering the option of not entering this monument. Then we entered the Cathedral from one side determined for people praying where we have seen what we are... More

Your admission includes an audio guide that is very good to hear about all the highlights. The back of the tag attached to the audio guide has a layout of the cathedral showing where all the numbered stations are located to listen to the audio. Gift shop where you buy the tickets has a snack bar and WC.

This church is awe inspiring. A little over the top but that is how it was done. The church is huge with beautiful works of art. El Greco paintings and silver and gold everywhere. Statues and paintings along with stained glass. One I f the major churches in Europe. It would be nice to attend Easter or Christmas mass just... More

Everyone is reading my comment now! Book your train and go visit this astonishing Cathedral in a very very beautiful city! We loved walking and touring in Toledo, and the Cathedral was our main highlight! The art you'll see there, you've never seen before!

The sheer magnificence of this cathedral is overwhelming, with a level of opulence that must have kept half of Toledo in poverty for years- and yet I can't come to Toledo without coming here- I guess I've been here twenty times at least. The "Transparente" behind the main altar is astonishing (if you can find someone to help you, approach... More

Interesting architecture - building started in 13th century so quite a lot of Gothic features - excellent El Greco paintings on display - also lovely quiet cloister where one can escape the crowds

Well worth a visit and the audio tour is great. We were there for over three hours. Loved seeing the moorish influences in a Catholic Church. Plus, make sure your ticket includes the bell tower - it may be 200 steps up, but there are breaks to look out at the views, which are stunning.

A magnificent Gothic cathedral begun in the 1220s and added to until about 1500. Its plan and interior structure bear much resemblance to the Cathedral of Bourges, France, since its original architect, Master Martin, apparently worked on the French cathedral before moving to Spain. For a greater appreciation and understanding of the cathedral, I highly recommend reading the Toledo section... More

Wow! Wow! Wow! That's what my husband and I said all through our visit to this cathedral. The gold altar is almost indescribable. Everywhere we looked there was gold, gold leaf, and gold in paintings. It is just beautiful and worth a trip to Toledo even if you see nothing else.
