No morals. Plenty of people raking the bins. People begging on every corner. Inner corners smell of piss. Plenty of drug dealing and seediness.

We stayed here during our summer holiday arriving from Portsmouth. We stayed on the campsite there. We walked into to city which was a pleasant long walk. The weather was glorious too.The people were very friendly and helpful as we speak hardly any Spanish. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. The coast line is beautiful too.I would definitely recommend a visit to... Every attraction I visit I always take a trip on their sightseeing tour just to save the bother of wandering aimlessly about and then missing all the best parts. This tour showed me to places that I would never have found on my own and made my day !

Fabulous shops, great food, lovely surroundings, great Cathederal to visit, hotel great. Some lovely buildings. Shame about the weather. Buses absolutely on time and really cheap from bus station which is a short walk to everything you want to see. Information point at the airpoint really good, pointing you where you want to go. The hotels don't always supply breakfast... More

Great way to see Santander and have fun on a bicycle! The city is pretty hilly, but using these bikes from Turybike (Avenida Reina Victoria 51, 39004 Santander) was a brilliant idea. For around E12-20 for 4 hours this was money well spent and allowed us to see much more of the city. Really nice couple running the shop -... More

While Santander capital of Cantabria is on Spain's north coast, the original little city faces south to catch what sun it can. A later eastern section grew up behind the beautiful El Sardinero beach and is where you will find the casino and splendid hotels. The Bay of Santander provides a natural habour and a haven from the wild Atlantic... More

Santander is a beautiful city surrounded on three sides by the sea. You can spend the morning on a vast sandy beach and the afternoon touring the Cantabrian mountains. It is modern and clean and more temperate than the "costas".

This is such an elegant city. After travelling with Brittany Ferries we disembarked at Santander and spent some time on the sea front having coffee and generally enjoying the beautiful place. It was exciting seeing all the grand boats coming in and we explored the Cathedral which we found a little disappointing as it lacked beauty and grandeur. Travelling away... More

If you are returning on the Brittany Ferry it is well worth getting to the port several hours before departure. If you miss the ferry the next one is in 2 days time. You can check in from 09.30 and park on the dock for free. Your cabin ticket has a bar code on it which allows you to come... More

When in the north of Spain, visit the seaside locale of Santander (capital city of Cantabria). The coastline is a long expanse of soft sandy beach including some more gentle bay like areas for children and families. During the tide shifts there is the possibility for some great snorkling where mullet fish, schools of tiny neons, and bottom dwelling sealife... More
