Masca a real gem

Another great day out not to be missed and when having a snack don't forget to try the maize tart not to be found anywhere else.

We stopped off here after a trip to the north of the Island. The scenery is stunning. There are limited places to buy refreshment so be careful as one of the cafes serves very sub standard coffee . This is another unexpectedly beautiful corner of Tenerife.

This is the second visit to Masca (after a few years) and it's still as impressive. Most of village now seems to cater for tourists in that the houses are restaurants, but who'd blame them for cashing in. Most restaurants are closed on Sunday. The road to Masca is very winding and a bit hair raising but it adds to... More

Went here on a blanket tour. (12 euros including lunch) Over switchback mountain roads. Difficult to access unless you go on a coach tour. Superb views, lots of natural scenery, plant life and razor sharp rock faces. Very glad that the driving was done by a local!. Coaches stop on the main road and you walk down to the tiny... More

We went on a guided trek and what an experience! It really is challenging. We do a fair amount of fell walking in the Lake District but this is three and a half hours of downhill trekking on very uneven, rocky, loose ground with scambling and having to sit down in places to slide down rocks. It is an absolutely... More

This was a day trip booked in resort through Thomson. It consisted of a mini coach tour. The first part of the trip is the journey to Masca. This involved tight double bends as the mini coach climbed up to Masca and down. I would hate to be in anything bigger! However the views from the village were worth it.... More

Not an easy drive and pretty hair raising multiple hairpin bends to get there but so worth the effort! A hidden treasure of a valley with far reaching views down to the sea. We walked around the village and stopped for a drink in one of the bars to enjoy the view. The paths in the village are steep and... More

Some of the reviews are somewhat daunting, it is possible to arrive on one boat and leave on another, so not committing to walking the whole valley. There are also people from the boat company at the bottom should you change your plans (you could reschedule which boat to return on). I walked about 1/3rd of the way up from... More

Wonderful views but not a trip on the bus for feint hearted as the mountain road is pretty scary! Visited as part of a day trip to the volcano as well

not for the faint hearted, a four hour journey to the coast where you will find a boat to take you back to Los Gig harbour (you hope), A taxi ride up from outside the hotel with views to thrill and then a difficult climb down to sea level.Check this out first , you need to be fit but if... More
