It's a hiker's paradise. The 3 hour hike down to the ocean is said to be challenging but worthwhile. We just walked around the village a bit to get the feel of it. We are glad we went.

Masca is a village in a valley in the North West of Tenerife. It is difficult to get there by road as it bends, twists, goes up and down like a yoyo and is very narrow. But once you get there the it is well worth it. There are bars and restaurants, walks, little stalls where people sell things they... More

This is a must do if you are hiring a car on your visit. Stunning views and driving the road is an experience, as was reversing back up to let a bus past (wife had white knuckles). You can walk down to the sea but leave a good few hours if you want to do that.

I took my 6 year old on a "Daddy Daughter" day out and we enjoyed it. Starting off from Costa Adeje, we headed to Santiago del Teide and found the most direct route to Masca was shut for road works ! This meant a detour via Buenavista del Norte and a very, very windy road. We stopped at various times... More

Bit of a hairy drive, but well worth it. The village is so pretty and the surrounding scenic views are wonderful. We went to the furthest restaurant (can't remember the name) on recommendation from someone we met on the way down, had the worst meal ever, however the cafe on the hill was superb (should have eaten there I think),,... We went up & up & up, most of the way was a very twisty small road then the last bit was a single track road. The views at the top are very picturesque but for me the journey didn't make it worthwhile and I couldn't wait to get down again.

Also you should drive if you are not a nervous type as the opportunities of breathtaking views are numerous and I mean breathtaking. Try the little cafe that is almost invisible as you approach the valley. Amazing guy. go in the cafe itself and have a look round , its small but well quirky.

Not much to see and do but as part of an overall day trip worth a look. There are no toilets and if you use the one in the cafe without buying anything you have to pay one euro

The trip to Masca is a must do if you are traveling to Teneriffe. The road is a bit narrow and steep, but once you get to the village you are rewarded with a breathtaking view over the valley. We have found an excellent restaurant where we have served lunch and cactus lemonade. The village is very small, quiet, with... More
