So we know Tenerife is a volcano place. The interesting thing is the variety of different coloured volcanic ash in layers.
We went on a windy day and the cable car service was cancelled so no thoughts on the crater.

Great experience.Take the cable car to the top of the volcano(not cheap, but well worth it) and then you have wonderful views in front of you.If you lucky(we were,me and my hubby, had a clear but very windy day), you can see some of the other islands very clearly.Fantastic!Amazing views!

Great trip and a must in Tenerife. Get there early to avoid crowds and dress appropriately, it gets cold and windy.
We took the first cable car and then climbed to the top. Remember you need a permit to do it. The climb is not long but is steep and quite demanding. Definitely worthwile though, I would be so disappointed...

A Unique nature experience- the drive to the top from the south is amazing- some places you feel that you are in a moon landscape. Go further than to the volcano and turn the car- even more beautiful sceneries!

It is a unique experience to drive all the way up to the volcano. The roads are curvy but then it is what is expected on a volcano/mountain. The sceneries were awesome on the way. We started from Alcala/south to Chio and then up. Make sure that you definitely take the main route T 47 else it will take you...

A great way to spend half a day, expect to be waiting in line at the cable cars for 30-60 minutes on a sunny day. Bring a jacket it can be chilly even at the bottom of the mountain.

Wedid theTeide by night excursion with Leon and Letitia on 5th April 2012 as a 65th Birthday present to my husband. The trip included a visit to an observation centre, followed by the most wonderful dinner with wine, sunset with cava and nibbles, a warm drink and then stargazing before returning to the hotel.
To describe the experience would spoil...

The lava flow killed everything around and it may take a thousand years for the vegetation to get here again. Instead you find pillars of lava...

We booked a Thomson tour and had a wonderful evening observing the stars and planets -the excursion was very interesting and there were hundreds of stars.Although it cost 75 euros each,it was worth it as there were a number of interesting stops and it included a lovely 3-course dinner at the parador on Teide. Leon our guide was very funny...

We always make our own way to Teide and it is well worth it. You can pull over whenever you want rather than being on a coach. It is lovely all year round at Teide but especially beautiful in Spring when everything is flowering.
