We went one morning as the weather was a little overcast & I'm so glad we did. We hired a car from our hotel & the drive was pleasant plus once you get there the view of the island is wonderful. Ps. Bring a jumper its a little chilly up at the top.

Went to top for sunset which was fantastic. The lift was exciting much like those in Switzerland . After sunset, we were treated to stargazing by a local club who set up telescopes to view Saturn, Jupiter, and several constellations. What a treat!

It's worth driving round and using the various stopping points to view yet more stunning scenery. The only downside is the cafe in the visitors' centre. Very unusually for Tenerife,... More

Definitely worth renting a car and heading up to drive around. We left from the Adeje side and went up the mountain back down towards Santa Cruz. We didn't go up the chair lift or do trekking like some do but driving and stopping when you like is still very rewarding. So much diversity with what you see. Fantastic views,... More

if you want to go all the way to the summit you will need a permit. i didn't realize this so was unsuccessful getting to the top. however you can still take the cable car up to the upper station and there are a couple walks to left and right taking you partway around the volcano. the views are stunning....
