Exciting place to see, you need to be careful if you have heart or breathing problems. going to the top is amazing part, but oxygen is low.. except that, wonderful place, a bit cold, dont forget something to wrap yourself when going up, even when its warm down there.

Huge disappointment. Booked and paid in advance and was promised a text if the cable car was closed. We drove 90 minutes to discover that the cable car was indeed closed due to the wind. No refund, no apology for wasted journey. I don't advise paying in advance. The weather is beyond human control but refunds and texts are not.... More

If anyone visits Tenerife you just have to go to the main attraction El Teide, there is a lovely cafe/restaurant at the Cable Car area, though it is expensive. The Cable Car is also expensive at 26 Euro per adult, but once at the top the views are stunning, showing lots of different Lava flows. A word of warning though,... More

We booked the half day excursion via thomsons but would definitely recommend doing it independently as you will get more time to spend at various points on the way up and down. We were the first of seven or so hotel pick up, which made it about three hours until the top for a toilet stop - quite a challenge... More

We didn't go up the cable car, we did an 8 mile or so walk from one of the car parks at the base of El Teide along tracks and through the lava flows. Absolutely lovely and such splendid views. Even driving to the volcano is spectacular and we were lucky to choose a clear day. Highly recommend it! Take... More

Booke a day trip up the mountain via the on-site tourist office inside the foyer of the Golf Plaza hotel where we eere staying. After the tedious but neccessary collection from hotels in the los Americas area, we headed for the interior of the island. Following a twisting road we ascended up the side of the volcano, the scenery gets... More

A must if you are in Tenerife. Treat yourself to a trip up on the cable car as well. Incredible place photographers paradise the light is magical. Take good shoes and warmer clothes and good suns cream. I have been up at night as well and the silence and stars take your breath away. Take something warm if you do... More

Believe all the superlatives in other reviews. For the cable car, consider buying a ticket online (Teleferico del Teide) to bypass the queue to buy tickets at the cable car lower station. However, check the weather forecast - in windy weather the cable car service may be closed. The views from the upper cable car station are pretty amazing, but... More

We were on holiday which was consistantly cloudy. However, El Teide was above the clouds and in brilliant sunshine. There are some fantastic walks around the base of the cone of the volcano. Just make sure that you spend 30 minutes or so to acclimatise yourself to the the altitude.
