Built controversially in 1776 at a time when the islanders were on the brink of starvation and suffering drought conditions. And really! a fortified castle at a time when pirate attacks had long since melted into the history books. Nowadays it is primarly a museum of modern art and a upmarket restaurant overlooking the cruise ship harbour of Puerto Naos. more
