These are one of the volcanic cave systems on Lanzarote, complete with a lagoon full of tiny, blind crabs unique to the island. You get to paddle along the edge of the lagoon. The caves were "touristified" by an artist called Cesar Manrique in the seventies. Stunning views. There is also a Volcano information centre and of course a gift... more

Before you go here you will probably see pictures in guidebooks. These just don't do them justice. When you enter you initially walk through the cave where the Albino crabs live. Initially they just look like little white specs but if you look closley you can see them. As you walk up the steps at the end of the tunnel... more

An experience not to be missed. A Jameos is a lava tunnel that has become too wide and the roof has collapsed in. You enter down steep steps into a cafe bar in a cave- like area which is used as a nightclub in the evening. The terraces lead down to a pool which is in near darkness. The lighting... more
