It is being allowed to appropriately revert to mother nature. The whole site is impressive and quite beautiful.

Nice unique way of turning an old quarry into a park. Peaceful, plenty of shade for when the sun gets hot around mid day. Toilet facilities very good. The only draw back is there is no café. Take your own water and food.

We enjoyed our visit to the unique spectacle that is Lithica, but boy was it hot down there. I don't think I have ever been so hot in my life, it took me all day to cool down after the visit. It really is a wonderful place to visit and well worth the effort. It is not difficult to find,... More

What a fantastic place to see. Excellent place! Amazing quarry, truthfully a hidden gem. We have done the blue path it takes one hour plus, but taking pictures I would say it could be done in 1: 35 minutes. Totally recommend to visit.

After reading the Lonely Planet and Trip advisor we decided to visit the old quarry at Lithica. We really enjoyed our visit. It was fascinating to stand at the bottom of the hole and look up at the marks of the miners gone before. The gardens are lovely and it was really fascinating. The volunteers do a great job and... Presented with a tourist map that said the site was a mere one kilometre from the edge of town, my husband and I decided to walk it. The directions from the hotel receptionist were poor, but then she had probably never been asked about walking before. It doesn't help that the site is not signposted at all. So to help... More

Not quite on the scale of the Eden Project in Cornwall, England, but still a way to bring nature back into the world when industry goes. Although there is plenty to see now, Lithica is a work in progress, so things are being added to as the months and years go by. There is no huge car park that I... More

Be sure to follow every path in this extraordinarily unique site. A converted quarry with amazing gardens large and small. Not to be missed.

Visited here on 1 Nov 2013. Unique and unusual place - we especially enjoyed the "medieval garden" which was hard to find but a little oasis away from the midday sun. There were several British families there - some whose children appeared to be having a great time and others who were complaining that they were bored. Despite the majority... More

Normally, if someone offered you a tour of a quarry, you'd probably be right to give it a miss. Not here though. The locals have turned this impressively deep old limestone quarry into a "bio-zone", ecological nature reserve with something new and interesting to see at every turn (and there are lots of twists & turns!) Lizards, the odd basking... More
