La Concha (shell in Spanish) is exactly that, a clam shell shaped cove or inlet with a surrounding beach. It's a beautiful spot, the sand is fine, the cove itself possibly a kilometre or more across, and if you swim out to the centre it's deep enough to be dark water when you dive in. If you prefer shallow just... More

Lovely cool clean waters but on a hot day you're lucky to find a spot for your towel. Worth it all the same.

Central beach - La Concha. Despite the vagaries of the weather here you always meet swimmers, even in January, as it is protected from the ocean by the island of Santa Clara.

I live in San Sebastián and this beach is worth seeing, though it gets really crowded in summer. It is quite a long beach with great views of the city, it is a unique beach because it is in the middle of the city. It also has great views of the island. Apart from that there is a walkway called... More

Can get very crowded and full of families. The beach on the north side of town Zurriola Beach was my preference but I liek waves and less crowds. The walk around La Concha howeevr is spectacular.

This beach is beautiful regardless of the weather. Rain or shine this is a "must see" in Donostia. Breathtaking!

We visited during winter so obviously didn't have a chance to sunbathe or take a dip in the waters (although we saw people who did). The beach lines the coast of San Sebastián and the view is amazing especially when the sun is out. Can see why La Concha is a key part of the lives of the people of... More

Usually tranquil waters with a superb view of the city. Good fr a swim, for a stroll, or simply to sit around and watch as the locals pass by.

The beaches were being re-built after 30 storms hit the region over Winter. The process was amazing to watch, as the engineers brought the sand back in from the sea, onto the beach and smoothed it out to make it a beautiful beach again. Surfers were having a fabulous time in the waves the pipes were making!
