Do take the time to see the beauty of the coast. The views are well worth it. I recommend starting at Pasaia (there is a regular bus from Gipuzkoa Plaza) or San Pedro in Donabane. Donabane is a charming town to stroll through, then take the 0.70 ferry across and head up toward the lighthouse, then follow the red-and-white trail... More

The journey on the funicular is quaint. But when you get up there there is only a rather squalid bar to enjoy the view from. Bizarre! Much better to spend your time in the the old city enjoying a pinxtos or ten.

Easy enough walk through a canopy of trees rewarded by great views of the town at the summit and castle which was free to visit. Lots of route options up and down added interest. The approx 90 minute round trip is well worth the effort.

Catch the funucular up to the top to admire one of the best views anywhere, but try and pick a sunny day! There is also a very old amusement park to explore.

but the rest....... for a start everything was closed apart from a little basic self service cafe which looked like the hot food had been sat there all day. I have no idea why all the fair/rides were closed and why nobody had mentioned this when we booked the funicular to the top. There were some spectacular views from the... More

We walked up Monte Urgull after lunch in old town. There seemed like a lot of paths to get to the top and the walk wasn't too bad. It was great once we got to the top. Such a nice vantage point of the city.

And free! Thought is was just going to be just a nice hike for some views, but lasting impressions are of the video displays illustrating San Sebastion and Basque history. Very interesting and creative rooms of different glimpses of the history of the city through the ages. The only one sub- titled in English was the Napoleonic war section, when... More

Wow, what great views on a sunny day. You'll also enjoy walking through the castle and the museum at the top. I always enjoy a history lesson at the sign posts. It's a good hike up, but you can make it!!!!

We chose to walk up here on a day which was not too sunny. The views are worth the walk and there is plenty to see on the way up. The museum at the top is worth a visit, with many exhibits and film footage.
