We'll worth a visit and one of the best large scale fish tanks in the heart of the complex that I've seen. Negatives? Not very English friendly. Some need for repairs evident but fish looked happy. History of maritime life in San Sebastián was surprisingly interesting too. Had a great lunch at restaurant nearby at Igeldo Resaurante. The young waitress... More

The Aquarium is actually 3 attractions in one, with the Aquarium, a naval museum and an art exposition. These are spread out on 3 floors but is well planned with little arrows on the floor to keep you on track. The naval museum has some great replica models and the Aquarium itself is well presented. Our favourite attraction in San... More

Title says it all. It's just an average aquarium like all the others. The only part I was interested in was the whale hunting history

It is more than just an aquarium! It is in a building close to the sea with good views of the bay. It includes history of the sea, a collection of naval boats and models showing drift netting techniques. The exhibits are described in Spanish and in English. There is a huge skeleton of a whale suspended from the ceiling.... More

Thank you very much for your comments. They encourage us to improve everyday. As you have perfectly described our exhibits we only want to add that "behind the scenes" we keep a research program trying to preserve the biodiversity of our oceans. This is made thanks to your visit because the research funds come from the tickets sold. We hope... More

Always a bit strange to take your children to see locked up animals. Done in a nice way though, a bit dark and the Spanish make so much noise!

Thank you for your comments. All the opinions, good or bad, make us think about our commitments with the society. It´s obvious that we keep fishes in captivity but we try to keep them in the best conditions and more than that we have a research program trying to preserve the biodiversity of our oceans. More

From the outside you get the wrong impression that this is an old building, inside everything is kept well and the aquarium is well worth a visit.

This was very educational. I thought this aquarium was one of the best I've seen! Its starts out more like a museum about the very interesting history of San Sebastian then goes into the aquarium. With everything from seahorses to sharks. Its very well organized with markers on the floor guiding you on where to go. While exploring you will... More

We were very lucky to have a private guide with us, (for more details see my review for Sagaroetxea Basque Cider Museum). We were told about tradition of boat races and history of San Sebastian, which was great because "normally" we would pass on to fish straight away :) There is a beautiful selection of fish in different tanks and... Really enjoyed visiting the aquarium, there are interesting exhibits on the history of San Sebastian as a port as well as models of ships and maps of the area before you get to the fish themselves. There is also an excellent view from the windows of the sea and harbour area. There is a wide selection of fish and crustaceans... More

This is a pretty standard aquarium. Nothing much - but you don't get cheated. They have the colourful fish they have to have in a place like this. There's a small exhibition about San Sebastian as a fishing-village. Thats more interesting than the aqaurium, and has som very nice miniature fishing-boats. It's pretty expensive to get inside, so you could... More
