Owner description: Pintxos, Rioja wine, seafood, cider, Idiazabal cheese....the tiny Basque region of Spain has more than its share of delicious treasures. Here at San Sebastian Food, our obsession is sharing the culinary secrets of this beautiful landscape with our clients. Our tours and experiences are authentic glimpses into the often secret world of Basque food, wine and culture. San Sebastian Food is the Basque Country's original guide company focused entirely on the region's culinary attractions. We are a family of a dozen food and wine professionals, comprised of locals, experts and passionate foodies with an expansive knowledge base. We lead culinary tours throughout the Basque Country in northern Spain and southern France. From cooking classes and jamon carvings, to visiting wineries and local markets, to simply hitting the old town for a fun night of pintxo bar hopping, our experiences are the epitome of easy luxury, tailored to your desires. San Sebastian is the culinary capital of the world, with more Michelin stars per capita than anywhere else on the planet, a farmer's market six days a week and hundreds of bustling pintxo bars. Locals plan their day around where to eat and what to drink, and we aim to give you a taste of authentic San Sebastian, with an added dose of expertise.

We booked a Pintxos Hunting tour with San Sebastián Food some months ahead and were a little anxious as several years before a Tapas tour in Seville had been disappointing. We needn't have worried. Our guide, Lourdes, gave us a great night out. Despite a larger group than expected Lourdes was able to keep us all entertained and informed as... More

On our recent trip to Spain we scheduled a class with San Sebastian food on Sherry Tasting. Andrew took us through tasting 5 different types of sherry and thoroughly explained the wine making process. Tasting them side by side and having time to discuss each wine was an excellent way to understand this sometimes complex wine. Andrew has traveled to... More

My partner, her parents and I thoroughly enjoyed the "Pintxos Hunting" tour offered by San Sebastian Food. Our guide, Lourdes, grew up in San Sebastian, and her knowledge of great pintxos bars was complemented beautifully by her insight into the history and culture of the city. We were treated to a great variety of traditional and modern food at a... More

If I could give this tour six stars, I would. The food was great and the tour delivered by our guide Eli was informative, entertaining, authentic and fun. We wandered down the laneways of San Sebastian and heard about the town's history and its current highlights. Pintxos we tasted included yummy Idiazabal Risotto, Iberian Ham & Wild Mushrooms, and amazing... More

What a fabulous 5 days in Basque country courtesy of John Warren and his hand picked team of tour guides. Beginning in Biarritz where we were met and driven to San Sebastian and the elegant Hotel Maria Christina, our group of four friends the then enjoyed a scrumptious pintxos (pronounced pinchos) bar "crawl" sampling the delicious flavours of the foods,... Our guide Eli took us to six pintxos bars and by the end we were stuffed! Eli ordered for us, introducing us to the specialities of each place... From pigs ear and veal cheek to an amazing cheese cake. This is a must do tour for anyone visiting San Sebastian!
