Pintxos, Rioja wine, seafood, cider, Idiazabal cheese....the tiny Basque region of Spain has more than its share of delicious treasures. Here at San Sebastian Food, our obsession is sharing the culinary secrets of this beautiful landscape with our clients. Our tours and experiences are authentic glimpses into the often secret world of Basque food, wine and culture. San Sebastian Food is the Basque Country's original guide company focused entirely on the region's culinary attractions. We are a family of a dozen food and wine professionals, comprised of locals, experts and passionate foodies with an expansive knowledge base. We lead culinary tours throughout the Basque Country in northern Spain and southern France. From cooking classes and jamon carvings, to visiting wineries and local markets, to simply hitting the old town for a fun night of pintxo bar hopping, our experiences are the epitome of easy luxury, tailored to your desires. San Sebastian is the culinary capital of the world, with more Michelin stars per capita than anywhere else on the planet, a farmer's market six days a week and hundreds of bustling pintxo bars. Locals plan their day around where to eat and what to drink, and we aim to give you a taste of authentic San Sebastian, with an added dose of expertise.

This tour was one of the best experiences of my life. We met as strangers and departed as friends. Eli, our tour guide, must be the best in the business. Her vast knowledge of food, of the culture of this Basque region and local food, fun facts, enthusiasm and love of all of this was infectious . Our 3 hours... More

My wife and I have traveled all over Spain in the last 15 years, but for amazing food & drink this visit topped it all. Our group (consisting of four friends) met Eli, our guide, in the San Sebastian Food shop. We also met Jon, the owner and Managing Director, along with Nagore, who was running the shop. They were... We booked the Pintxos tour via the Viator website based on some great reviews we had seen online. Having spent the previous afternoon in San Sebastian, we thought we had got a good feel for the local food and culture but being shown around by a wonderful, knowledgable, local provides so much more depth to the experience. We would highly... More

This was a great night out with our guide Elli taking us through many of the bars tasting the different pintxos and wines. Elli explained the history and the best way to eat. Her experience and easy manner made for a fabulous night out. Highly recommend this tour and guide.

We went along to the pintxos food tour on our first night and the food was incredible! Our guide Lourdes was amazing and gave is a very good insight into the history of San Sebastien and knew exactly where the best pintxos bars were and their specialities. Given that we struggled to order lunch earlier in the day, the tour... More

There is a lot to learn here and no way better than by first hand experience. Our Tour Leader, Eli, was excellent at her job and charismatic to boot. Such delicious fun!

We went Pintxo hunting with Eli on our first night in San Sebastian - sooooo glad we did this! You will DEFINITELY have a better Pintox experience if you use the nous of an SSF guide like Eli - different bars have different specialties (plus menus are seasonally based), then there's ordering off the counter versus the board...it's actually not... l had a fantastic walking tour of San Sebastian and the pintxos bars. Lourdes, our guide, provided a detailed tour and history of San Sebastian along with stories of growing up in the Old Town to give us a full experience. Included in the tour, we visited 3 pintxos bars that were all popular ranging from a traditional bar in... More

I've always wanted to go to San Sebastián having watched Rick Steins Spain! And it was defiantly worth the visit. It has more stars per capita than anywhere in the world, and then it has pintxos! The little nibbles in every bar are which help soak up the vino

Its that good - this is my 4th tour. I return with various foodie friends and always say lets do the tour - it never disappoints. You would think that within 5 minutes you are Eli's best friend and that is the first tour she has done - her enthusiasm, freshness and knowledge knows no limits. If you are questioning... More
