Nice collection from the early middleages till modern art. Excellent audiotour in English. You may spend some hours in this museum and enjoy every minute.

A good mix of classic and modern art, one of the temporary exhibitions was one by Mikel Díez Alaba. I have never seen any work by this artist before and it was well worth a visit. A must see exhibition.

It has much more inside it than the famous Guggenheim. Though there were no top-tier works (a few Braques, though), the collection does a good job of representing Spanish artists from medieval times to present. There is an especially-pleasing collection of contemporary art.

A real contrast to the Guggenheim but modern nevertheless! Contains an interesting selection of mainly Spanish and Basque art. Not stuffy or overwhelming as not too big. Nice small cafe and good shop.

Anyone who visits Bilbao for the Guggenheim Museum should not overlook the nearby Museo de Bellas Artes. This museum has a fine collection of mostly Spanish art of past centuries housed in a traditional 19th century building. But for us the big attraction was the modern wing, beautifully designed and added onto the original building, featuring a wonderful, choice collection... More

To a lay-man like me, I thought this museum did a great job of showcasing key works from as early as the 12th Century, up till the 21st Century. It was also fascinating to be able to see all these works in one afternoon! I highly recommend the visitor to get the audioguide so that you can better appreciate the... More

Really enjoyed our visit here particularly after the lack of art inside the Guggenheim. All well signposted and large spaces to enjoy the art. Great display of cubist art. On our visit there is a fabulous exhibition of Darrio de Regoyos and his impressionist work. A real highlight. All this for the great price of six euros. A bargain in... More

If you are really interested in painting and don't need to see only masters or masterpieces, if you don't want long lines to get in, if you want an excellent selection of Spanish and European paintings of the last 7 centuries, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao is for you. Very well light and exposed. Their café is very... More

I'm ashamed to admit I'd never heard of Darrio de Regoyos until we saw the special exhibition of his work here, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Bilbao. We dallied so long over it that we hardly saw any of the permanent exhibition so I'm looking forward to a return visit.
