Thanks to tripadvisor I learned about this opportunity to meet and tour with a local. My guide, Esti, arranged to meet me at the Guggenheim Puppy and after a brief discussion of my interests we walked to the new and interesting Alhóndiga Cultural Center designed by Philippe Starck, then hopped on the subway for a beach walk on the outskirts... Our walk with Roberto was a highlight of our month long trip. He was warm, friendly, interesting & very knowledgeable. We had a great walk besides the river to the Old Town and back seeing many of the architectural features of Bilbao, the unique bridges, and so much more. We stopped for a drink and had a chance to meet... More

Having been all over Spain except the Basque country, we decided to contact the Greeters, as Bilbao was a port on our cruise. It was nice to be able to walk through the city with a knowledgeable native. The Greeters provide a service which is totally free-something unexpected anywhere in today's world. Inigo was our guide. He has an excellent command of... More

Being new to the Basque region and Bilbao, our guide Marivi was great. She has an extensive knowledge of her home, culture and history with a fantastic attitude. The group (6 people), 3 couples, were treated like family and given a tour of a lifetime. We learned to navigate through the city via, train, bus and most importantly our two... More

This was our second time in Bilbao and since we had such a great experience last time with greeters, we jumped at the chance to book another day with them. We had 4 newbies with us who also really enjoyed it. Since we had been to Bilbao before (and everyone had the full day before to explore downtown), we decided... More

Our tour guide, Marivi, was a fount of historical and current information about her hometown and her Basque culture. She took us on a wide-ranging tour in the pouring rain (bless her heart) with a broken arm, no less. Our Bilbao experience was so much richer with her guidance, perspective and deep knowledge. This is a wonderful service. Thank you,... More

I read about this nonprofit who gives free tours and all the great reviews. Our tour with Mariví was even better than expected and our expectations were high. She was extremely knowledgeable about Bilbao and had a wonderful command of Basque history and culture which she imparted in an interesting and cogent way. It helped us understand a lot! She... Our guide Inigo Castillo provided us with an informative morning walking tour of the many attractions in the city of Bilbao. We felt like he was a good friend, he shared history, the culture of the area, and some of his families experiences living in this area. It was helpful to have a guide that spoke English well. He is... More

If you are visiting Bilbao or San Sebastian you can arrange for a guide to show you around and explain the transport system, history, places of interest, restaurants, bars, museums, etc, etc, whatever you would like to see. This is a free service run by local people who want visitors to enjoy their city and make the most of all... More
