Wow. Just spent three hours with Roberto from Bilbao Greeters and still cannot believe how kind and informed he was. All with two days notice that we were coming to town. It takes a special kind of person to offer their knowledge and time for free. Roberto gave us a welcome to Bilbao which will stay with us forever. Viva... More

We happened upon the Bilbao Greeters website and booked a tour with Inigo Castillo. He was amazing! We had asked for a general overview of town and stops in some local watering holes. His walking tour did not disappoint. We walked, talked, laughed, drank beer, ate pintxos, and saw things a tourist would have never found alone. The truth is... More

We arrived in Bilbao at 9:40 a.m. on the bus from San Sebastian. Our one day visit included plans to see the "Casco Viejo" and visit the Guggenheim Museum, where we had a tour reservation for 14:00. Our greeter, Jose, was waiting for us when we got off the bus, and he followed our itinerary, by suggesting we walk to... More

We had a wonderful time with our greeter, Inigo Castillo Omar. He spent 4 1/2 hours with us, walking around Bilbao and pointing out sights which we shouldn't miss. He gave us a historical background of the city and explained to us the uniqueness of the Basque culture. We came to understand something of the history of Spain and its... More

We came across Bilbao Greeters on this website advert and glad we did. As we only had a day available from our cruise ship holiday it was an excellent way to see the city and learn about its history and culture. Jokin Urkiaga, our guide, was excellent. I would certainly recommend the organisation!

With all the communication with Bilbao Greeter before arrival, we were a little concern on getting to meeting point on time. Four of us originally plan to take taxi but greeter suggested using shuttle. Celebrity cruise only published the free shuttle from port to Bilbao city center day before arriving Bilbao. We had to change the meeting time from 9:30... More

Four of us got off our ship and met Marivi at the "Puppy Floral Sculpture" at the Guggenheim. We moved to a café across the square to wait for the rain to stop and go talk about the city and the tour we would take. We paid for Marivi's coffee but that is all she would allow us to pay... More

Iniigo took us on a 3 hour walking tour of Bilbao, many interesting history, places made famous by 007, Old Town including the local's favourite pastry shop. He was very open about his love of the city and the local's way of life. Nice to know a custom where couples wait until 3pm to have lunch together everyday.

Marivi was our Greeter and met with us at the "Puppy Floral Sculpture" at the Guggenheim. Although the Guggenheim may have put Bilbao on tourists' radar, we found the entire city to be a jewel. We had the opportunity to hear the history of the city's renewal, take the funicular to see a panoramic view of the city as a... More
