Really worthwhile trip as you get the most amazing views of the city and the surrounding countryside. There is a lovely park at the top and some restaurants if you wanted (we did not try them so cannot comment on how good they are!)

It's worth going up there! It costs a few cents only, the 5 min ride to the top is interesting in itself, and the top of the hill is a pleasant surprise: peaceful, invites to rest and look, and offers a great view of the city!

Lovely trip to see the city from above - you can even spot the airport! It's nice to see how the city is laid out from up there

The title is Artxanda Funicular, so I'll write about the funicular itself. The cost is 0.95€ one way, so you don't lose much even if you don't like it. It's a short, smooth ride up the hill. Unfortunately, you can't see much; if you want, you can stand and watch the city spreading as you climb. For what you get... More

The station down is a whole in the rock which looks bit dirty and has a lack of light. There are only two carriges and they take an awfull lot of time to start moving, never the less they are very old and not very clean, full of graffity and paints. It could be an amazing experience if they renew... More

This was a wonderful first day treat. The Funicular is an easy walk and the trip is only a few minutes. A fun thing to do would be to take a bike up and cruise down. The cost is €1.80 R/T, but they do not sell R/T tickets, just 2 one way. There is a little play area at top... More

The actual funicular ride isn't that exciting, as you can't see much out of the windows. But the trip is well worth it for the excellent views from the park and viewing area at the top. 0.95 euros per person each way represents good value for money.

I found the funicular while traveling on the tourist bus. It's a 2 lire round trip fare and the views of the city are completely worth the ride.

Starts in a hole in the hill and has a pair of carriages looking like a flight of steps. Takes you up a tunnel, out into the light and up to the nearby hilltop where you can see all Bilbao laid out below you, as with an aerial photo. Some entertaining sculptures in the park at the summit - one... More
