Seven Streets - Old town or Zazpikaleak as it is known in Basque, is the medieval neighborhood of Bilboa. The name came from the oldest part of the neighbourhood which is made up of exactly 7 streets and narrow alleys that connect them. It is a lively, thriving interesting and bustling area, filled with several historical churches, markets, shops, butcher,... More

Really enjoyed wandering around. Seemed to be more authentic than say San Sebastian - for example. We visited during Fiesta time - last week of August - so it was all a bit crazy with processions, funfairs and fireworks!

The heart of the city, small street, plenty of restaurants and pintxos bar... great place to walk around, having drink and eat - very cheap - some restaurants have good meal deal

Always full of life, high quality buskers, and good shops (Very cheap in august when everything is on sale). We just walked and walked. Small compact area but loads of character. Go to the Plaza Nueava for a drink when you are exhausted or just grab pintxos anywhere when you are hungry!

An overall friendly atmosphere and small streets. It's a great place to stop in any of the many bars for a glass of wine and pincho.

Not sure if it was the drizzly night but our walk through El Casco Viejo de Bilbao was a quiet one. Not many tourists. But plenty of great restaurants, we had a hard time deciding which to pick. We stayed close to the Zubi Zuri Bridge so to get to El Casco Viejo we traveled by tram. Nice, easy and... More

From others reviews was expecting a bit more from our walk round the old town. Great to see the narrow streets and flags and cafés but not a lot there and the shops are not of a great quality. Better spend a few hours by the river marvelling at the bridges and Gugenheim.

This old part of the city has a very nice atmosphere and it is surprisingly well preserved, with narrow streets and renovated buildings, cosy pintxo bars and cafees. It is definitely a must-visit in Bilbao, because it represents the authentic Basque part of this city that is teemed with modern buildings. Nevertheless, having come from San Sebastian, we have compared... More

Cool in the narrow streets away from the hot sun. A new treat around every corner and unexpected washing items precariously hung above!

This was a very nice area to visit and definitely I want to see if you're visiting Bilbao. However I found that as old cities go is lacked something. There were shoppes, but no good stores. Some parts of the city had a very strong smell, not sure we're it was coming from. If you compare it to Lisbon, Madrid... More
