Pintxo's galore

Cute little square with many cafes and good pintxo's. The streets are fun to explore, and there is a good atmosphere.

Most vibrant part of the city, expecially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Plenty of people on the street sampling tapas and drinks in the bars and restaurants.

I absolutely loved my stay in Casco Viejo. It holds so much beauty within the alleys and tall apartments. There were live bands playing most nights and market stalls in the day. The locals were very friendly and accommodating. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from too! By far one of the best places I've visited. I... More

Lots of places to eat and drink. If you enjoy tapas this is the place to be. Turn a corner and you come across monuments, churches and restaurants. Have some tapas in the Plaza Nueva - a lovely place.

Take metro from centre of Bilbao. Suggest Line 2 to Estacion Portugalete then walk downhill through some lovely streets to riverside. Take 'suspension ferry' across bridge and come back via Line 1 from Estacion Areeta. No hill to climb back.

The old town of Bilbao is charming-narrow streets, many cafes and restuarants. We went on a Sunday afternoon when the restuarants were lively with locals having lunch. Lots of atmosphere. Fine church in the centre with splendid carved wooden door. Easily accessible on foot or by tram or even bicycle.

If you like to walk you can visit the Old City (Casco Viejo). Very nice place with the old look. Smaller streets and a lot of places to visit and shop.

This is a very great area of Bilbao to explore, it is where the city was founded, and there are very beautiful buildings richly decorated. The information sign thru the city is very helpful to get to know the history of the city, and the view of the surrounding mountains is amazing.

A real gem in what is a great city. Overall we loved Bilbao, and the old town was great. Lots of bars, restaurants, side streets to wander down and easy to get lost but feel very safe. Highly recommended.
