The ones I saw had no merit or interest whatsoever. If you come across one, just try to ignore the thing. Look the other way. Have a drink. Go to see the archaeological museum or the Museo de Bellas Artes or something. Smell a flower. (I particularly hate the one in the bustle near the cathedral.)

Walking around Oviedo town center you can find on the sidewalks several bronze sculptures representing famous local characters, traditional trades, etc.

It's a wonderful idea! You kind of feel like a child again wanting to find all the statues (kind of difficult since there are more that 100) and interact with them.

Walking around Oviedo is easy and a delight and the many statues located around the city kept me reaching for my camera! The statues are great pieces of art and well worth seeing.

We liked Oviedo so much that we came twice in the same week. Parking was easy and Oviedo is a very clean city. There are plenty of great cafes and bars to sit out and watch the world go by. We loved the statues dotted all around the city and the central park. Very relaxing indeed.

We loved seeing all of the statues around town. The Woody Allen one even has the quote that he said during one of his visits. The Asturian horses were pretty cool as well, especially to know that that breed of horse is only found in Asturia. The Dali one right outside of the train station was a nice welcome to... More

It looks like they are real, and it is lots of fun to find them when you are walking around the city!!! Most of them are of popular characters and there is also a statue of La Regenta.

These statues give Oviedo a sense of humor. They are placed around the central city and you never know when you will run into one. The Woody Allen sculpture is the most famous but I think the Asturcon pony is the most popular- even local kids want their picture taken while "riding" it.

Each statue has an information plaque with the name and story of the individual represented, from gypsy women who once frequented that one street, to famous artists who went to that specific church, to milk-maidens who walked that path, even Woody Allen.
