you can go to Gijon only to see this magnificent bay and enjoy the beach. There are most than 2 Km of bay where you can walk. All churches were closed.

Lovely beach, very Spanish............clean and good stretch of beach to walk along. Refreshing sea which is very good for surfers and there were surfing clubs to learn to surf if you wanted. Plenty of space for children to play.

San Lorenzo is a lovely long sandy beach. Fairly shallow, so takes you a while to get out into deep water (and so safer for children). The passeo along the beach is a favourite at all times of the year (and a great way to walk off the large Asturian portions of food). In Summer, the beach can get a... More

Gijón is a wonderful "pocket-size" city and one of the best things one can do here is take stroll along the beach of San Lorenzo. Whether in the morning or evening, there will always be people walking, on bicycles, on skateboards or rollers just going up and down enjoying the sunny days (especially in summertime). One can also surf or... More

The local people of Gijon take an evening stroll along the beachfront before evening meal. It is a beautiful yellow sandy beach with a wide tidal range, so it is very popular with local people for football games. At the western end you can wander into the strees of the old town and the marina.

really a lovely beach with great views of the Bay. Parking was pretty easy too. The day we were there, there was a fair at the Iglesia de San Pedro and an airshow. So check dates before you go as there are lots of things going on

Nice playa to stay in summer, great for a walk in winter.. Close to all interesting sites in Gijon.. But also nice place to just take a small break from the city centre.. Nice waves for surfing occasionally..

Guidebook photos of this beach make it look much more picturesque than it is. The beach is surrounded by mostly undistinguished urban buildings. The beach itself is broad and pleasing to eye. The best viewing is at the end near the Plaza Mayor. When I was there in June, the Atlantic was far to cold for swimming, so I can't... More
