The Iglesia de Los Martires is one of my favorite churches downtown because it is very beautiful. There are many statues of the Virgin Mary and many of them are dressed beautifully. The church is very Baroque. The floor could be renovated to improve the church.

(The photo presently representing this church is actually of Málaga's Cathedral and not la Iglesia de los Santos Mártires.) The 15th century Iglesia de los Santos Mártires de Málaga was erected in honor of the martyrs Ciriaco and Paula, Patrons of the city. This is one of four churches built by the Catholic Monarchs in the walled perimeter of the... More

the church is open. You'll find it on Pasaje la Serna, which runs off Calle Heroe de Sosta (a main road from the Renfe and bus station into the historical centre). It is an old church, and originally the monastery church for an order of Carmelite monks. But that first building was almost totally destroyed by an earthquake, so the... More

Everywhere you turn in Malaga there are these superb churches which also make excellent landmarks and are good to navigate by. Worth just spending time absorbing the wonderful architecture.

We were taken here by welovemalaga tours. We truly enjoyed every single chapel, specially if you are into religious art

Having visited Malaga Cathedral, which I loved, I found this church a bit too highly ornamented with vast amounts of gilt. Just not to my taste!

I recently went to hear Mass at this church. After Mass I looked around at the different altars and admired how the various images of the Virgin Mary were attired and how the chapels were decorated. It is a very beautiful church in the center of Malaga and should be seen by people who visit the city.

I love history and visiting these historical sites, it really does add immensely to the quality of your trip to hire a very good guide. We used Andalucia tours and it was well worth it!

Situated in a street of the same name, the Church of the Martyrs is a must for anybody fond of "church crawling". It is a blaze of gold leaf and dark paintings, and holds a number of the images mounted on "tronos" for the Semana Santa processions, at which Málaga excels (some "tronos" require over 200 men to carry them!)

Stunning church which is one of many in Malaga. Impressive architecture, colours - a feast for the eyes. Whether passing in the street or entering the church, you cannot fail to be impressed. Don't miss it.
