Nice church

Nice church. Not very big, but very well ornamented. Much possibilities for lighting a fire for someone (a pitty that they are electric though). Worth visiting.

My wife and I were attracted by both the looks of this impressive structure and the name being the Church of the Martires, well worth the visit indeed and worth your time. Highly recommended during you Malaga tour, which cannot all be done on foot given the size of the city and the distance between the various places that you... More

I liked this church because it contains the kind of exuberant Spanish church architecture characteristic of this region. The interior has a kind of big pattern rococo design with a splendid altar and large life size saints.

The Iglesia de Los Martires is one of my favorite churches downtown because it is very beautiful. There are many statues of the Virgin Mary and many of them are dressed beautifully. The church is very Baroque. The floor could be renovated to improve the church.

(The photo presently representing this church is actually of Málaga's Cathedral and not la Iglesia de los Santos Mártires.) The 15th century Iglesia de los Santos Mártires de Málaga was erected in honor of the martyrs Ciriaco and Paula, Patrons of the city. This is one of four churches built by the Catholic Monarchs in the walled perimeter of the... More

the church is open. You'll find it on Pasaje la Serna, which runs off Calle Heroe de Sosta (a main road from the Renfe and bus station into the historical centre). It is an old church, and originally the monastery church for an order of Carmelite monks. But that first building was almost totally destroyed by an earthquake, so the... More

Everywhere you turn in Malaga there are these superb churches which also make excellent landmarks and are good to navigate by. Worth just spending time absorbing the wonderful architecture.

Having visited Malaga Cathedral, which I loved, I found this church a bit too highly ornamented with vast amounts of gilt. Just not to my taste!
