The secret is to go around to the right side, through the wrought iron gates and enter into the crypt (basement). You MUST start here. (See the main church later.) Imagine being there hundreds of... Well worth a visit, Christian or not. Stunning building with a really tranquil feel, even when crowded.

Entrance fee & 5 E was a bit steep, but the paintings inside were magnificence. If you like art this is the church to visit

We stayed in the vicinity and always wanted to go inside. Initially just thought it was the hospital but when we did venture inside it took our breath away.

The crypt is really interesting to see and you can make pictures of the crazy skeletons on the walls. The dome and virgin are amazing pieces of barroque. Just for 2€ that are donated to the NGO Cáritas!

This Cathedral is well worth finding as once inside it is full of beautiful arts and when we visited the sun was shining through the stained glass windows making the interior amazing. A nun was singing in preparation for the midday mass making it very soulful. Having recently been through very difficult times with a family death it was a... More

We took a tour with a translator which was over 3 hours. We visited the crypt, church, museum, and rotunda with stained glass windows. It is just an amazing place with so much history. You must go see it.

The Basilica of Santa Maria de la Victoria is an elegant Baroque church that is quite beautiful. It has a camarin, a dressing room behind the altar where the statue of the Virgin Mary is displayed. The camarin is Rococco and very elaborate with plaster moldings.
