I found both the castillo and views to be worth the trip. But of course I took the number 35 bus to the top, for 1.10. Definitely worth it, one of the highlights of Malaga. more

For only 1.80€, this site is definitely worth the trek up the hill. Its not overwhleming spectacular, but the Castle overlooks Málaga and the Mediterranean, and are the ruins of an ancient Moorish castle-fortress more
Not as well preserved as the Alcazaba but spectacular nonetheless. If you plan to walk be prepared for an arduous climb, thankfully the views you get on the way up make it worth the effort. If you walked up to this you'd probably wonder why you bothered risking heat exhaustion (apart from the views). The castillo is about the views rather than the buildings (the Alcazaba is far better). The views from here are excellent and it is fun to walk around and be able to see almost all of the city from a different point of view. The admission is free on Sunday afternoon after 2pm. If you decide to walk it is a steep hike about 15-20 minutes but in the late afternoon not too bad. there... more

Most people drive up to the castle but we took the steps located near the road right of the Alcazaba entrance. Before going through the tunnel the steps on on the right.
