An absolute must for any gardener, designer or lover of peaceful, thought-provoking places. We visited in mid-September, recommended by a friend who lives in Cordoba. Although the Mezquita is the most important thing in Cordoba, this is the second! 14 graceful courtyards, each with a different atmosphere and orientation, each with its own planting and decoration. Our tour guide clued us in on this overlooked gem. If you like gardnes and fountains, this is a can't miss. There are two tickets - one just for the courtyards and patios and the other for both that and the inside, but the inside tour is only in Spanish so we opted for just the courtyards. A delightful oasis in the somewhat chaotic and traffic-infested downtown area of Cordoba. This is the former home of an aristocratic family, now owned by the city. You have two choices: (1) the guided tour of the house itself (but outside the main summer season these are only in Spanish), or (2) roaming in the numerous small courtyard gardens. Option... more
