If you want a break from pretty boring architecture of Alemeria, climb the stops and enter. The Alcazaba has been carefully restored to what it may have looked like back in the day. Beautiful Moorish gardens and reminents of its past glory. Tip pack water and sun screen can get very warm but there is some shade in the gardens.... More

Once you have caught your breath climbing the steps - be prepared to be enthralled at the castle and gardens

We visited the Alcazaba on a quite Sunday morning. So we had the possibility to look around very relaxed. As a bonus you get a nice view from above of the town of Almeria. Because our grandchildren enjoy very much the Flemish film " Mega Mindy en het zwarte kristal", of which parts are filmed in the Alcazaba, we were... More

Not as spectacular as the Alhambra but free of charge for EU citizens and worth a look around, especially the gardens that are calming an cooling on a hot day.

A beautiful blend of islamic and catholic architecture, very well kept (thanks to the EU) and definitely worth a visit. No entrance fees for EU-nationals (just say that you're a UK-resident)!

We stopped off in Almeria on a cruise and after visiting the very pleasant town decided to take the short walk up to the Alcazaba - we are so pleased we did. It is a wonderful place to visit. So much to see and on the day we visited very quiet. Like another reviewer said, it is like a mini... More

A fantastic place to visit with so many parts, both complete and in ruins. The views over Almeria city are amazing. Allow plenty of time, as until you are actually there you don't realise just how big it is!

This is the baby brother of Alhambra in Granada... And free.Really worth a visit .. The gardens are stunning, beautiful mosaic and brick pathways flanked by formal shaped hedges and herbs giving a wonderful fragrance to the air.Small waterways punctuated by fountains trickle so the whole experience is a visual, aural and olfactory delight. The buildings are fascinating and the views... We have visited here a few times when in Almeria and enjoyed it during every visit. Our two girls of 6 & 8 also had great fun being able to run around and explore and enjoyed listening about some of the history and looking out over Almeria and it's port. We would recommend taking plenty of water if going during... More

We had a fabulous couple of hours at this place. The views across the city, port and mountains were incredible. We went with our 2 boys aged 3 and 6 and they loved exploring the different areas and pretending they were knights. We couldn't believe it was free entry. It was very quiet and really pleasant to walk around. I... More
