The oldest caves in Europe with cave drawings dating back as far as thirty two thousand years ago. Almost every other cave of this kind in Europe doesn't allow visitors into the actual caves only the replicas. The tours are run by the third and fourth generation of the original discoverer of the caves back in about 1905. Extremely knowledgeable.... More

We drove up from Gaucin and found the roads well sign posted. The cave itself is truly remarkable and not to be missed. A very steep path leads up to the cave from the car park. This cave art tour was fantastic. Unfortunately, photographs are not allowed, but that's not unexpected. The tour guide spoke in Spanish and reasonable English afterwards. Unless you are using your own transport this involves a walk of about 5 or 6 km from the station of Benoajan-Montejaque, one stop from Ronda on the line to Algeciras.
