Goethe and Schiller

Been there as a part of my uni course, the place was located in a good location near everything. Fascinated by the paintings from Goethe and Schiller and their lives. Recommended.

We found this museum very interesting and we got a good idea how Weimar became a cultural centre. The rooms devoted to the great Goethe, Schiller ,Herder and Wieland are very interesting. The collection of paintings is worth seeing. We enjoyed being introduced to the paintings of the Weimar school which reminded us of the Glasgow artists painting at the... More

We were impressed by the art works as well as the rooms of the palace and were really glad we took the time to explore the museum.

We could not get into the Schlossmuseum for the same reason we couldn't get into the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek when in Weimar last July. They had something against my purse. And inside my purse was all my money for the trip --- in cash. I wasn't going to be parted from my purse night or day. So all we... More

The Schlossmuseum is not so much a museum as an art gallery. It is a great collection of art and I would definately recommend it if you have a few days in Weimar. We were only there for one day so I probably would have preferred seeing a few other things before this.
