A nice little square with some stalls. Bratwurst in a brotchen from a stall €2.50 ; very nice. Guided tour was being taken around the various buildings and had a lot to say outside the Elephant Hotel. The main tourism office is here so collect your leaflets etc. Also a ladies clothes shop which has a cat which sits on... More

Love Weimar. Great sense of graceful elegant lifestyle. Much history and interesting events to ponder. Good food, friendly helpful people not too tourist tired.

The market place had been taken over by the Christmas market when we were there so a bit difficult to fully appreciate the old and attractive facades , lovingly restored after war damage and GDR neglect . Tourist information is situated here .

Weimar's altstadt has a great relaxed vibe. Enjoy local cafes, walk along cobblestone streets and attractive architecture, see the historic Elephant Hotel, and stroll over the bridge to shady banks. Nice place for couples.

The Weimar's market square is a popular gathering place for social, foods and drinks. Come here you will find farmer's market varieties from fresh produce, fruits, cheeses, flowers and its famous original Thuringian long skinny grilled bratwursts tuck in small round buns and topped with stone ground mustard. You hold the bun and bite off the bratwurst from both ends... More

2014 was the 361st annual Onion Market in Weimar. It bills itself as the world's oldest Onion Market, occurring annually, despite wars and political change since 1653. It was a blast. 300,000 happy Germans descend on this quaint city of 60,000 locals. This is a unique 3 day event, always the second weekend in October, it truly has something for... More

There are many people selling all sorts of things; honey, herbs, fruits, handmade toys, souvenirs, jewelry, etc. Has a friendly atmosphere, we really liked it there.

Weimar train station is in the outskirts! You get off, start walking, and think "is this it - for a long time! Trust me, the walk is well worth it. When do you do hit the town centre, there is plenty to see. Don't go on a Sunday unless you get there early. All the museums close at 4. There... More
