I remember that when this library was hit hard by a fire a couple of years ago, many thought that most of the library had gone. Well, if you visit this truly marvellous place today you will be surprised to learn what an outstanding job the renovators have done! The place also provides you with fascinating insights into Weimar´s rich... More

Visiting the Anna Amalia Library was one of my highlights in Weimar. To get in, I advice to order a ticket online or go early in the morning to buy a ticket for later. The museum only allow a certain number of visitors during the day and it's a popular place people visit. You can get an audio guide, which... More

This is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world! Definitely do not miss the opportunity to visit when in Weimar. I would highly recommend arriving in the library a few minutes before your tour starts. There is a little display space that can have the most quaint exhibitions!

It is outstanding how the place has been restored after the disastrous fire. Unfortunately a great number of bbokshelves still are half-empty.

The library is beautiful with an excellent audio tour that really brings it to life. The tragedy of the fire is also well presented, with an informative exhibition of the art and science of restoration of the thousands of books damaged by smoke, water and fire.

A fascinating research library packed full of beautiful and historic books. Sadly much of the library was destroyed in a fire in 2004, but the restoration project has revived the Rococo hall to its former glory. Well worth the money to get in, you will enjoy many paintings as well as a beautiful old clock and a detailed exhibition about... More

We had to get there early as a limited number of people only are allowed in each day and the tour operators buy up the tickets. One can only buy a ticket on the day. This is a must see and the accompanying audio guide was very good. We were very pleased that we made the effort to arrive early... More
