Very wonderful, sacred place. We appreciate that this is a current parish. The art is amazing. We appreciate the historic aspects - Martin Luther was here. The statuary at the portal of the 12 women and their lamps is unique and captivating.

Very old cathedral, everything inside is breathing like it was hundreds years ago. Erfurt is full of such places, where you can sit and think, remember and pray.

The Catholic Erfurt Cathedral is a 1200-year-old church located on Cathedral Hill of Erfurt, in Thuringia, Germany. It is of an International Gothic style, and is also known as St Mary's Cathedral, and is located, uniquely, on a hillside. It is the episcopal seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erfurt. The architecture of the Erfurt Cathedral is, mostly, of... More

I love this church. The climb up the stairs to get there is worth it, and the altarpiece, backlit by stained glass, took gorgeous photos. The carvings on the choir stalls are also fascinating.

An extraordinary and unusual interior, with Romaneque man-sized candelabrum and a glorious wall-painting. Good relics, interesting choirstall graffiti, and -- and the big level -- glorious light and space and glass.

We took the English language tour which was free and really made this visit special. There is a lot of history here including the ordination of Martin Luther.

Nice to see a church in Germany that was not hard hit by WW II bombing. One of two churches on the Domberg, this is a very nice church to visit. It is the seat of the Bishop of Erfurt diocese. It is known for a large medieval bell, which I did not get to see.
